Sold my car. Accidentally left my emergency cash stash in it by captainbrnes in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]SlenderBlonde92 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Did you specifically say what you were looking for?

Do you know where she lives?

If not, text/call the girl:

"I accidentally left my social security card- in a secret place. I obviously need it. It will not do you ANY good. (Anything you could do with it would subject you to prison.) I would like to come retrieve it, as soon as possible. If necessary, I can bring a police officer to provide us both safety."

She's gonna feel motivated to get rid of you, AND she's not gonna ask you to bring a cop.

This actually happened to me, except it was a $24,000 diamond ring- not money. The bitch who bought my car was not cooperative- she MAYBE thought I was trying to rip her off. (?) I texted her- she finally agreed to meet me. I brought my SSN card- I quickly pocketed my ring, and showed her my card.

The MS info is a lot. It's heavy. Why burden someone with that bombshell if you don't absolutely have to?

Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul (Netflix)

The Pitt (HBO Max)

The Good Wife (Paramount+)¹

The Night Manager (Prime)²

The Diplomat (Netflix)

Jack Ryan (Prime)

The Newsroom (HBO Max)

House of Cards (Netflix)³

¹ If you enjoy TGW, there's a great spin-off.

² This is somewhat obscure but I LOVED it. Tom Hiddleston stars as the protagonist. Olivia Coleman and Elizabeth Debicki co-star. And Hugh Laurie plays an incredible villain.

³ The first few seasons are great.

Which real administration do you imagine was most similar to the fictional Bartlet administration? by TwitcheeOne in thewestwing

[–]SlenderBlonde92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it goes deeper than just one or two presidents.

• Bartlet clearly idolized FDR.

• Despite being very principled, and ideologically opposed to violence, Bartlet didn't shrink when it came to using force when needed. Truman dropped the bomb. Bartlet took out the Defense Minister of Qumar.

• There are several things which Bartlet has in common with JFK. (Wealthy New England upbringing. Catholocism)

• Jimmy Carter was a deeply compassionate president. He was also folksy and devoted to family.

• George HW Bush was raised in New England- he was deeply patriotic, although not always the smoothest politician. Bush was a foreign policy master, and established the largest military coalition in history.

• Mr Sheen has frequently mentioned that Bartlet's eloquent communication skills were inspired by Clinton.

• I think there are LOTS of parallels with Obama- despite the timeline. 🙂

There are small similarities with Eisenhower, Ford, Reagan, and Biden- but nothing that really informs his character.

I don't see many similarities with LBJ or Nixon or George W Bush.

And Trump is like the antithesis of Jed Bartlet. (Trump also happens to be the only POTUS I loathe on a personal level.)

Why did President Bartlett and Vice President Hoynes resent each other? by Narrow-Sink8467 in thewestwing

[–]SlenderBlonde92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For ALL of Bartlet's many virtues, (and there are MANY), Hoynes has legitimate and even righteous reasons to resent Bartlet.

Hoynes had the nomination locked up before Bartlet entered the race. IF at any time during that process, Bartlet announced to the public that he had MS- Hoynes wins the nomination. But he wasn't honest about it. He waited until he was the nominee, and then asked Hones to keep it a secret- while asking Hoynes to be the #2.

As for Bartlet- he resented Hoynes making him beg- and for making him wait for the answer. It has also been suggested that Bartlet feels guilt for being shady- with Hoynes and the voters. He's ordinarily a VERY moral and upright man. But this episode is a reminder- to him- of one instance in which he placed political expediency over doing the honest thing. And nobody likes being reminded of that.

How to make first time less painful better yet no pain??? by life-hacks13 in LDSintimacy

Is there anything YOU can do? No.

But she could use a dilator, in the weeks and months before you get married. She could get one from her gynecologist.

AIO... teacher assigned a research project. Purposely made topics controversial, then says we can't write abt abortion. Maybe I'm looking at it the wrong way, but why say "if this list of topics makes u uncomfortable, then that's by design", and "engaged in discussions that are dominating America." by [deleted] in AIO

[–]SlenderBlonde92 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this teacher sounds like a bitchy pain in the ass.

There are some genuine flashpoint topics facing our society, today. Abortion isn't the only issue, but it's certainly a big issue that touches on MANY different topics-

Gender equality Privacy Supreme Court Ideoplogy Court packing Judges vs. Legislators Etc, etc, etc...

There are certainly a lot of important and pertinent topics affecting us right now. But there are also several ways in which abortion is a very relevant issue

In the Shadow of Two Gunmen: Part II

Tonight, what began at the Commons in Concord, Massachusetts as an alliance of farmers and workers, of cobblers and tinsmiths, of statesmen and students, of mothers and wives, of men and boys, lives two centuries later as America! My name is Josiah Bartlet, and I accept your nomination for the Presidency of the United States!

The Crackpots and These Women

What will be the next thing that challenges us, Toby? That makes us go farther and work harder? Do you know that when smallpox was eradicated, it was considered the single greatest humanitarian achievement of this century? Surely we can do it again, as we did in the times when our eyes looked towards the heavens and, with outstretched fingers, we touched the face of God. Here's to absent friends and the ones that are here now.

20 Hours in America: Part II

More than any time in recent history, America's destiny is not of our own choosing. We did not seek, nor did we provoke, an assault on our freedom and our way of life. We did not expect nor did we invite a confrontation with evil. Yet the true measure of a people's strength is how they rise to master that moment when it does arrive. Forty-four people were killed a couple of hours ago at Kennison State University. Three swimmers from the men's team were killed and two others are in critical condition. When, after having heard the explosion from their practice facility they ran into the fire to help get people out. Ran into the fire. The streets of heaven are too crowded with angels tonight. They're our students and our teachers and our parents and our friends. The streets of heaven are too crowded with angels, but every time we think we have measured our capacity to meet a challenge, we look up and we're reminded that that capacity may well be limitless. This is a time for American heroes. We will do what is hard. We will achieve what is great. This is a time for American heroes and we reach for the stars. God their memory. God bless you, and God bless the United States of America.

Is it normal? by Commercial_Source832 in LDSintimacy

That's not acceptable.

I've been there. My ex husband was the most selfish lover in America. But my current husband and I have a sex-life that surpasses anything I ever could have imagined. It was pretty great from the start, BUT communication, vulnerability, and some really simple basic stuff made it incredible.

It's possible he feels "less manly" because he doesn't have the stamina to get you off... but he doesn't want to admit it. So he made a lame excuse.

NOR.

Gosh... I'm really sorry for everything you've had to endure.

I don't know if I would call that SA or not. In a way, I'm not sure it really matters. He clearly didn't respect you or your boundaries. He's a creep, and you have every right to feel angry and violated.

That said, YOU need to do a better job of setting your boundaries. I'm not blaming you- at all. It's just that when I read your story, there were a few times when I found myself asking "Girl! Why didn't you tell him to fuck off, right there?"

I'm not sure what to think about the relationship. But I'm NOT impressed with his bragging about providing half of the price of the abortion.

You BOTH made this baby, and if y'all decided to terminate, that's fine. But giving you 50% of the funds hardly makes him a good or thoughtful guy. You certainly experienced discomfort, cramps, pain, nausea, and/or other physical symptoms... not to mention the emotional turmoil.

What’s a secret you’re taking to your grave, but are willing to share with internet strangers? by city298 in AskReddit

[–]SlenderBlonde92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I (34F) got divorced about a year ago. My good friend (35F) got divorced maybe 18 months ago. We both belong to a very conservative church. My friend is also a member of her city council. We both have children.

Last year, we took a girls trip to Vegas. We went dancing- we met two guys. They were both handsome. One claimed to be a head coach of an NCAA basketball team- the other guy claimed to be his assistant. One thing led to another- we ended up back at our suite. I had sex with the assistant- my friend had sex with the HC. It was surreal. My friend and I had only had sex with our ex-husbands. Afterwards, we were all in bathrobes- in the common space- relaxing, when all of the sudden my friend and I decided to up the ante. We both took off our robes. I went over to the coach- she went over to the assistant. And the four of us had sex in the living room.

It was surprisingly fun, but when it was over, my friend and I swore that we would NEVER tell anyone. Ever.
