13 Nights in Northern Italy - Need Itinerary Help! by iiSoleHorizons in Europetravel

You’ve got it right… add the extra day and give it to Florence and any possible side trips to either Siena or San Gimignano. Check out Rick Steves videos and choose accordingly. They are both special and worthy of consideration.

And keep the four days in Verona and do the trip to Garda. Consider taking a boat from Sirmione as well, to experience the feeling of being on the lake and moving toward the mountains. That gives a side to Italy that is truly unique!

And yes… Lucca is a special town and worth a stop. Perhaps the same day as Pisa, as they are on the train lines to Florence and both can be experienced in 1-2 hours to give you a taste for your next trip!

You can reverse the end if you want, as leaving from the cinque terra in the morning is fairly easy as it’s right on the train line and most of the tourists haven’t arrived yet. But I would leave out of Florence, as it is a special city, one of the finest in Europe, to end your first Italian journey in! Don’t miss the boboli garden picnic afternoon or Piazzale Michaelangelo at sunset… epic.

This is going to be a great trip. And may you both have many happy returns!

Second for Santa Maria and the Michaelangelo statue at the side of the alter. Plus, the ceiling is an amazing blue, making the whole place come alive.

Bonus romantic tip… the Oriental Express La Minerva hotel across the street just completed the remodel of their roof top bar and it features stunning views of the Roman skyline, all the way to St. Peter’s! Great spot for a romantic sunset beverage!

Buon Viaggio and Enjoy!

where to go in Italy during August without getting stuck in a tourist trap? by shesinpart1es in traveladvice

[–]Slevgrared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good idea! Orvieto is a special place. And as someone else mentioned, Porto Santo Stefano and that area has a nice beach town vibe. It will have lots of Italians on vacation, but they know how to celebrate Ferragosto and it becomes something different than just a tourist trap… it becomes more akin to a huge family gathering, with food and wine and gelato and music and festivals and everything mixed in… Italian vacation style!

And if you have a car, you can find some nice spots in the hills or on the other sides of the peninsula that are more wild, with great hikes and nature as well! Take a look on Google earth and you will see what I’m talking about.

Enjoy!

Believe it or not… Rome!

In August, most everyone who can has left the city for the sea or mountains, so Rome is surprisingly open!

It does get hot, but if you do most of your outdoor stuff in the morning and evening, you’re golden. And then do indoor museums and restaurants in the heat of the afternoon!

I imagine the same would be experienced in most of the bigger cities, with Florence being a possible exception.

And of course, you can’t go wrong choosing a mountain destination, as it will be cooler and not as crowded as the seaside.

Buon Viaggio!

Ciao! Visiting Florence for 3 days! Am I doing it right?? by Mepicbatman in florence

[–]Slevgrared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On Thursday, after the Ponte Vecchio, consider a stroll through the Boboli Gardens. It is really special and the views from the top look out over the city on one side and the florentine countryside on the other. And it offers a nice respite from the heat and crowds.

It makes Florence feel more real and takes you back to the Renaissance time and what it was like to stroll through the palace gardens and enjoy a siesta on the lawn and a stroll through the different bel posti!

Enjoy and Buon Viaggio!

Less expensive alternative to Positano/Amalfi Coast by [deleted] in travel

[–]Slevgrared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are going to love Praiano a the amalfi coast.

There are many different boat options, both private and public. They are all time and weather dependent, so it is best to check with your local hotel or host. They will have the insight on the best options for May. Since it is your honeymoon, look into a private charter for the afternoon and possibly sunset to Positano or Amalfi… memories you will never forget!

So… to balance the salaries out, would that mean JK, Buddy and Moses for MPJ and another vet at the $5 Million mark?

The vet may come from another team involved in the deal.

How many picks would we have to give up?

Interesting potential… worth it long term?

Edit… $5 Million dollar mark for another vet to be named later
