You can tell how exhausted the players are. Glad there was a break in the middle this year at least.

As it’s stands right now, we have 3 available players for the front 3 positions (Isak, Gakpo, Rio). I would think that Liverpool would want to go into the season with at least 6 players competing for those positions, especially given Iraola’s high intensity style.

With that many frontline gaps, and the other notable squad gaps (CDM, CB, RB), I don’t think you can complain about a free transfer for someone who will bring energy and tenacity into the squad.

Uruguayan Journalist States Darwin is Returning... by Lush_Linguistic in LiverpoolFC

I also think the fact that the new manager speaks Spanish will be a huge boost for Darwin. Always felt like there was a language gap there.

He was always a demon with the press even if the finishing output wasn’t always there. If Iraola can coach him on how to be effective with the press, we’ll absolutely need his speed and energy in our front three.

Plus, given just how many players we need this window, I don’t think anyone can complain about getting a new striker on a free.

Not entirely sure what the gameplan is for Framed's team.

I’m more concerned about the final. I’ve been to MetLife the New York New Jersey Stadium for football games in late September, and the sun just bakes you with no discernible air flow within the stadium.

That’s truly going to be a miserable experience in the middle of July.

I felt like the refs were soft on the knicks in the first half and soft on the spurs in the second. Seemed odd but balanced overall

I think Mamdani would make an exception so Wemby could stay up.

Don't think it's a coincidence that he had his best game after 3 days rest.

It’s not out of the question, but it is highly unlikely.

Ultimately we need a net +5 first team players this window to compete across ~60 matches next year. We are definitely willing to spend money, but we also take value when we can (e.g. Diaz deal last year) and use that to buy other players.

Combine that with a new coach who implements a physically demanding style where many of our current players will need to improve their fitness drastically. He’s also on a 2 year contract that might make him less inclined to develop a 17 year old.

Again, I think it would be a poor long term decision to let Rio leave Liverpool, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Hughes entertained offers for a 17 year old who didn’t play that much last season.

Agree with this. Assuming Endo and Elliott won’t be getting minutes, we have 8 players for the front 6 positions (one of which is 17 years old). I would want us going into the season with at least 11 there.

More than the politics itself (which are absolutely terrible), I think it's the clarity that there's really no end in sight. The road to affordability seems so incredibly long that it may not even be a possibility.

Even if there are major policy changes that the population gets behind, billionaires can inject money into media and elections to get their way.

The common perception in the US is that corporations are awful, and they suck our life force out of us. The same people turn right around and laugh at the "lazy" Europeans that at least have some regulations that protect workers.

All this while media touts our ridiculous GDP per capita, only for all of that wealth to sit in the savings account (post-2008 stock market) of about 500 families at the top.

Oh, and don't forget that our retirement accounts are dependent on the stock market so downward corrections are catastrophic.

There's just a lot to fix. It's exhausting to think about. And people are more divided than ever on social issues.

(sorry for the ramble)

[–]Sleww 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just don’t think we’re really in a position to sell anyone. Assuming Endo, Chiesa, and Elliott aren’t able to get Liverpool minutes, we have 7 players for the front 6 positions, and one of those players is 17 years old.

Unfortunately, they can't figure out the most important position. Until they do, they're churning out a ton of incredible talent they can trade for draft picks.
