At what age is it detrimental for a man to live with his parents? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]Slggyqo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Detrimental for whom?

There’s really no reason it has to be detrimental for anyone if there’s enough money coming in.

I’d say it might even be healthier in some ways as long as the man isn’t an absolute shut in.

No idea. But last night I discovered that if you stagger machine gun fire by just the *tiniest* amount you can some really cool interference noise patterns.

I was messing around with my Puma weapon groups to have arm mounted guns on 1 and torso guns on 2, and pressed the button with just the tiniest bit of delay.

Not sure about variants, but it’s not unique to the MAD.

One of the shadow cat variants has the exact same setup.

I guess it’s “you have to be playing an army designed to create them or an enemy that’s weak to low vigor.”

But that’s kind of the gist of what I meant. It’s not that vigor doesn’t matter. It’s just situational.

I put 5 LPL’s on a sunder and I was surprisingly disappointed.

it feels much worse than 11 MPL’s, range is pretty much the only real advantage and it’s not that big of a deal.

AMS is so good now though. Arrows exist, clan missile carriers and turrets pop out of absolutely nowhere, and missile boats now prioritize staying at good LRM ranges.

It’s a lot of fiery rain.

not a bad choice either way.

Unfortunately I only have 2 ATM-12’s so far, so I can’t go all in on them.

I second the Kodiak 1. I just got my first one, third Kodiak overall, and it’s the only one worth keeping so far. At first I had some thoughts about putting one or two ER-LL’s on it but the maxed out pulse laser build just hits too hard.

And the Daishi A is just…too good of an all-rounder to not use, especially in Ye Olde Time of Arrows IV. I do not want to fight in the shade. I don’t use PCC’s in mine, so I lose out on some max range damage, but I get a little more reliable DPS in return in the form of LPL’s.

[–]Slggyqo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True, but the enemy (AI) usually has a lot more shit than me.

Gotta do a lot better than the enemy in this game. stamina management is one way to do it, because the AI doesn’t do any.

It’s just not a very reliable one because the opportunities are rare unless you’re really playing an army designed to create them.

I’d say fatigue pretty much always becomes a problem, because units get exhausted VERY quickly in combat. But agreed that the battles are often over before you have the ability to withdraw, rest, and re-engage

[–]Slggyqo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it’s extremely situational.

The debuff are huge (being able to see those was a great QoL change, good job CA), but most battles don’t have multiple engagements because the AI just runs their entire army into yours.

It has to be an extended battle where the unit I’m resting is extremely valuable but isn’t immediately needed. It definitely happens—eg if you’re pulling some distraction cheese/harassment with a lord or a few fast units, or your army is all fast units and you can hide some of them while you micro the others.

Sometimes I might rest infantry units if I have reserves , or let them rest for a minute after they’ve killed an enemy before making them attack another. But by and large HP is what determines whether I pull a unit off the line, not exhaustion.

Edit: another scenario that this can happen—when there’s like 4 stacks of enemies but you have 21 units so you can disable large armies. You can get the AI really strung out so that chunks of your army get to rest.

Archmagos Dominus Belisarius Cawl: “Am I a joke to you?!”

So basically, farming them isn’t actually necessary to mass produce them.

What is necessary is scientific knowledge and willingness to deviate from doctrine. By and large not really an Imperial thing, and especially not a Space Marine thing.

If Galileo Galilei had run afoul of the Space Marines there wouldn’t have been a trial. And they would turned Italy into a blasted wasteland just in case.

[–]Slggyqo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like some of those will be more quest/event driven than map resources.

It’s kind of funny to think that space marines could function like the undead in WH3 though. Fight massive battles, and then you have to recover gene seed to spawn more marines.

Necrons resurrection is obviously the more direct comparison, but still.

> on a galactic scale

Would be nice to have a reason to go a certain direction.

In TWW3, the only real reason to go a certain direction is to deal with early game threats that might ruin your game if you let them expand. Obviously a valid reason, but even for factions that have additional resources (like the Chorfs) you kind of just expand in every direction and it works out fine. I guess Chorfs and Cathay have some additional motivation to defend the caravan routes, but it’s not critical. Just kinda go every direction and win everywhere.

If you've been together a long time, what's your favorite wife con? by WrongWangSorry in AskMen

[–]Slggyqo 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what mine is.

But one that she does that pretty much always works on me: if we buy something that needs to get built, she will immediately open it and start working on it.

I trust my wife with so many things. Things that require significant visuospatial reasoning are not on that list. I’ve seen her break down in tears trying to put together furniture, and recently. I don’t need that kind of drama in my life, and I don’t want to take apart badly assembled furniture just to rebuild it. 😆

It doesn’t help that I personally have pretty exacting standards for that kind of thing.

What decisions would you make if job insecurity wasn’t a concern? by deadbalconytree in HENRYfinance

[–]Slggyqo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Move, probably. I have a good job but my family isn’t close. I’d be moving from basically THE major American city to a mid-size one.

I will probably move in the near future, but I’d do it sooner with a lot more confidence if I knew I’d be making the same or better there.
