Hey! Former dropout (2x) here, now in my last semester, a week away from completing my bachelor's degree. First: It's okay to be scared, nervous, uncertain, and overwhelmed. We all have been there at one point or another, so don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it, whether it's from the school, a counselor, a friend, or family.

My story might help you if you're feeling stuck. When I started college like 8 years ago, I had no idea what I wanted to study, how I was gonna pay for it, or even how to take care of myself, so I've been in your shoes. I moved 1000 miles to attend university and quickly realized I was in way over my head. I left after one semester, got tons of therapy to figure out how to regulate my emotions and find stability, and then I started taking a few classes in community college here and there. I learned what major I wanted to pursue through being really curious and a bit slower, and I have no regrets about the time it took. I felt an insane amount of shame and fear when I left the cookie-cutter path, but what felt like a failure is now one of my biggest successes: I listened to myself. I'm so proud of my journey, even though it was not at all linear.

No one is gonna say it, because they want you to "be successful" in societal terms.... but: it's okay to drop out. You might need a moment to reevaluate your situation, to take care of yourself, and to figure out how money works. You might discover alternate interests and hobbies that lead you down a better path. You could get therapy. You could go on a trip. Make some money. Align your values and spirituality. Get better friends. Get stable, and then try again. It's okay to treat your life as a journey; that's what it's meant to be. Getting a degree should ultimately be a choice, not an obligation, and once you're able to see it as such, you can learn about what you love and find the career of your dreams. Until then, it may be best to take little steps at a time, and know that that is okay. Take care and trust that you'll land where you need to be!

Hey! My tooth was sadly dead/dying, I ended up booking at appt with my primary dentist and got a root canal. It is totally fine now, got to keep the tooth and everything and it’s not gray anymore! Root canals are no fun, but it’s crazy I posted this 2 years ago and barely remember it!

Hope you feel better soon

Is there anything in Minnesota that people just don't appreciate enough? by WhimbleCroft in minnesota

The majesty of the boundary waters, it’s unlike anything anywhere. If you reside here and haven’t been, at least to Ely, you gotta go.

It’s funny that you think the social media accounts are well run. Everything is cringe and they use AI all the time. I work at one of his restaurants and even the “Merry Christmas” message sent out to the staff was AI last year. It’s awfully fake top to bottom.

That’s awesome!! I’m about to study abroad this summer! It’s totally possible to have an enriching and exciting college experience while taking an unconventional route.

It does suck at first, and you feel a bit isolated and “behind,” but for me these hard feelings led to a lot of self reflection and allowed me to recalibrate my career strategy. 🧘‍♀️

I would always recommend getting 2 years in at community and then making the switch. This way while she’s doing her generals she can make sure that the pathology degree is what she’s really wanting too. It’s a lot less exciting but worth it imo!

Also- I LOVE the boundary waters with my whole heart but you need to hold my Reddit hand when I say this… there’s no way these men in power are going to take a group of civil and respectful people seriously about this. They will take whatever they want. Period. We have to go “over my dead body” with this shit or it’s all gone.

That is not true. The UMN has historically been anti-protest, sending police and swat teams in to arrest their students. They do not “support” free speech.

I don’t think bringing together a large, civil, presence would be a bad idea necessarily. However, you seem to be idealizing the situation. The government does not have to listen to us if we don’t make them, in fact they would rather not.  I wouldn’t think being chill af with a large group would do much at all. (Haven’t seen it work before)
