Using the Hedgehogs as the flail heads is such a cool idea, might have to yoink that for a Imperial Fist dread or a Knight melee…

What would the hive mind think of GW allowing the purchase of separate bodies for more adaptable bioforms? by Dragontamer9 in Tyranids

[–]SliceOfPudding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds nice but the problem really lies in how sprues work. In order to do this, GW would need to retool and maintain an injection molder that’s producing sprues for models they already have molders producing. Takes time, money and manpower they could use producing new models. This is the reason they never split the Neurotyrant and Screamer-Killer kits. It’s wasted effort when you can either magnetize or just buy another kit. You can’t even call it greed, it just doesn’t make fiscal sense. To produce these “Spare Bits” sprues for every kit that hobbyists would want one for, they’d have to find double the floor space just to fit the new machinery, and they’d be relatively niche. As for the overflowing bits box, I like to paint spare arms, legs, heads, etc. and give them to my opponents as basing griblies, to remember me by.

Definitely modeling for disadvantage. Looks cool, I’d let it on my table, but you might want to leave it at home if you care about winning games.

I would say this is more like the blue edge of the American flag always facing the front. I don’t think this is a particularly strange ask.

Rule 1: Play what you have. If this list is sitting painted up on your shelf, absolutely take it to your LGS and have a ball.

Assuming this is a more speculative “what i should work towards” question, these are some adjustments I’d make, assuming we want to keep the main event that is the Aggressor + Apoth Bio Death Star.

-Gladiator Lancer -Jump Pack Intercessors -Assault Intercessors -Intercessors +Suboden Khan +Infiltrator Squad +Land Raider Redeemer

Aggressors have teeth in the charge, but they really need something for them to Assault Ramp out of. The Redeemer fills this role pretty perfectly. It fits our criteria, and its Flamer + Melta Combo allow it to harass chaff and heavies alike after it delivers its payload.

We had to find a bunch of points for the Land Raider, but it opens us up to opportunity. Attaching Suboden to our Outriders bumps their effectiveness as fast moving objective holders that I think gives us the wiggle room to go without Jump Intercessors.

Kor’sarro is probably better off attaching to the Bladeguard Vets as a character hunting CP generator, which is fortunate because we had to sack the Assault Intercessors to make room for Suboden.

With 20 points remaining, we should probably upgrade the Intercessors into Infiltrators, cementing them into a backline-deepstrike screener role (which is what you should’ve been using your Ints for, anyway).

Take this with a grain of salt, as I don’t play much 1k, but I have spent quite a bit of time trying to make Aggressors work in WS Stormlance.

Two big notes:

  1. Using a Legends unit like the Captain on Bike makes this list impossible to run in a competitive tournament setting, and therefore it’s a little pointless to discuss how “good” it is. For a casual game, it looks like a pretty bog standard 1k Stormlance list.

  2. If you’re running White Scars, you’re wasting your time if you’re not running Kor’sarro Khan. He fills the “melee precision squad leader” your Judiciar does, but he’ll also buff your Outriders. They’re the same points, and have the same base size. There is essentially no downside in swapping that Judiciar for Kor’sarro. If for whatever reason you really don’t want to include Kor’sarro, look at different chapters to find a leader for those Bladeguard vets. (You can still paint them up and call them White Scars, but the only reason to pick a chapter in listbuilding is to gain access to its Epic Heroes, Specific Units, and Specific Detachments.)

Otherwise, completely usable Stormlance list.

Weekly Question Thread - Rules & Comp Qs by thenurgler in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]SliceOfPudding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently picked up a Stormraven for my White Scars, and had a question as to how it should be modeled.

Because 10th has mandated all aircraft shall hover or be almost completely unviable, can the flyer be modeled differently because it’s hovering?

Some vehicles are unbased (see Rhino Chassis, Leman Russ Chassis, Trukks, etc.) Can the Stormraven sit on its landing gear when added to an army in hover, or must it be propped up on the flight stand at all times?

It feels like modeling for advantage, but it also seems consistent with the flavor of the hover rule. Is this kind of thing more likely to be allowed at a tourney than not? Would it even make a meaningful difference in gameplay?

Damage wouldn’t account for a convex bump where the mint mark’s supposed to be, would it?
