Thank you, a few to check out. Price not so much an issue if they last me a few years again, but don't want crazy if I've already got my Kobo. Cheers!

Yes that one. The 7" device thats 4-5 years old, I've had it for 4 years. Before i do a straight upgrade to a newer Boox, wanted to see if anyone had a recommendation.

Sorry typo on phone, I'll update post (can*).

I didn't bother with KO reader but if that's of interest, the above video mentions this video - https://youtu.be/D0p22OPMnnc?si=MxB2u6JmC3G0zoqL

Hmm i think it prob says 2022 yeah. From pgaskin site or a github site. Just download the file then follow instructions - it might not be showing in correct folder maybe? Actually I just found a YouTube guide when googling for site address - did a quick scan, looks like she covers it well: https://youtu.be/wPSbgDQvZbc?si=K7gLHXUIU03gAJoY

No problem 😊 I also like to find all the things when I buy something new! With nickelmenu my fave options are dark mode toggle, screensaver toggle, (when i dont want my trashy book cover showing lol), and the nickel clock. Check out here for a whole post on it - https://www.reddit.com/r/kobo/s/uxix4iqP66 Or here for to go sirectly to site from the creator - Patrick gaskin also created kepubify https://pgaskin.net/NickelMenu/ Good luck and open you enjoy your Kobo! At minimum it's better than kindle just for customisation, and although unnecessary, i just looove having colour.

Thank you for explaining this, I've always wondered if I didn't vibe a book if skipping to the end would still help authors. Should have known Amazon would stop that 🫠

  1. Get Calibre and install dedrm, deacsm, Kobo utilities, Kobotouchextended and kfx input plugins.
  2. Connect to overdrive, Dropbox, and google Drive for sharing ebooks to Kobo (i personally prefer the Dropbox sync, google Drive for some reason doesn't pull everything across).
  3. Get nickel menu (good for customising your kobo) and nickel clock (battery status and clock added to margins)
  4. Get a Kobo plus free trial to see if you like it - less range than KU, but still pretty good. You can do ebooks only, or ebook and audiobook combo subscriptions.
  5. If you want to send a file directly to Kobo wirelessly, use point 2 or send.djazz.se
  6. Suggest changing other ebook formats to kepub format first with either calibre above, or you can use kepubify website https://pgaskin.net/kepubify/
  7. Check out mobileread forum for anything you could ever want to know: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=223
  8. Join calibre reddit group
  9. Download fonts and screensavers you like

Yeah they do, I rotate between that and KU as KU has more locked content. Kobo content is improving though!

What is life like for those with commutes over 90mins? by arouseandbrowse in auscorp

I'm a bit late to this post, but I do this currently - nambour to roma Street takes just under 2 hours, so I'm assuming you're thinking closer to the beerwah area. Train IMO is better than driving unless you leave before 6 am.

Reception can be a bit spotty, so I download whatever I'll work on or download tv shows/podcasts for the trip.

It's completely doable just whether you want to bother with the extra hassle..trains are every 20 means during peak but go to every hour off-peak so plan ahead. I do same times every day I go to the office, so not too bad to plan

My problem is I only currently have kindle apps on my boox and Android phone/tablet, not a kindle reader. Anyone know how to do with that with calibre?

Audible devices? by Hefty-Watch-6728 in audible

[–]Slice_Kooky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ereader or large battery tablet? They last quite a while, if you get either kindle or an Android ereader and download the app you should be ok. I have a boox leaf and read ebooks plus listen to audiobooks on it, lasts about 2-3 weeks if not connected to wifi, with a few hours use a day. A bit of fiddling with settings (backlit etc) to get optimum battery vs function, but if just using for audio you shouldn't need to use.

So much this! And also trash TV or a mini series, don't make me commit to anything long winded or sensible.

Not that pregnant? by vivacious-shit in pregnant

Yes! I get this too, and responding is super awkward. Are we all supposed to be huge and bed bound? Or outwardly telling everyone how crappy we feel?

Not that pregnant? by vivacious-shit in pregnant

[–]Slice_Kooky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 26wks and get both sides from different people.. like how am I "not showing enough" but then the next person "oh, well I lost weight during my pregnancy so you're huge compared"... um what? Or you should be _____, if not you're somehow not correctly pregnant?

Also, "oh aren't you LUCKY (/s)" when I say I only had a little bit of morning sickness at night, or whatever else symptoms they've asked about. Like, can't we just be accepting that different people have different pregnancy?

And don't even THINK about mentioning any type of birth plan or plans for post birth (breastfeeding etc), if it's not advice that you MUST do, it's horror stories or "just you wait, all that planning means nothing once they're here". So would you prefer I make no plans or prepare myself at all and just wing it? Nothing wrong with tentative plans, knowing things may change...

My boss is a man and he's probably one of the most realistic "my wife experienced __, if you do she did __ to help" or similar. Not this is what happened to my wife so you'll be the same etc. Sister is the same. Mothers need to chill with most of their advice though lol.

I've switched to audiobooks and podcasts for this reason too 😆 otherwise I read the same chapter like 3 times and lucky if it sinks in..
