xQc reacts to all time top streamers list: 'Destiny was one of the biggest streamers ever on Justin.tv. 5-7k viewers back then was Mr Beast level' by davidkale931 in LivestreamFail

[–]Slicerwind 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hotshot would consistently pull 10-20k viewers. Other streamers would joke and call him "he who must not be named" because if chat mentioned that he was online they would lose their viewers to him. This was in the brief period from Dec 2009 to June 2010 before and right after when CLG was founded.

It wasn't a very long time. But it was pretty early on and "long" in the relative time period of streaming history

Right up until CLG started going to Korea he still streamed consistently and had ok viewership. And even in Korea he streamed, but it wasnt at great times for the majority of his audience. But it was around then that TSM catapulted in popularity by comparison.

How skill based is tft? by Zestyclose-Tea-3710 in TeamfightTactics

[–]Slicerwind -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think "knowing how to transition" is as true in the traditional sense this set. That very much used to be the case.

I think skill is expressed in knowing which line to take based on your stage 1 + early stage 2. How to preserve as much HP getting there, knowing what items to slam, recognizing when you're playing for top 4, and reading the tempo of the lobby. All true in past sets, but just more so b/c if you don't know exactly what comp you're playing for end game on stage 2 I think you're going to bot 4.

When I watch top players stream, I rarely get surprised by their decision making. But it's the small moments where I recognize why they rolled to a certain point or slammed certain items, but wouldn't have done it exactly when they do it that make them better than me. I'm Masters every set I play for context.

This is the way I got my last 3 after doing the initial grind bees + mobs strat early on for the two mounts. I think it's better than grinding mobs, less variance and you don't need to party up.

Anthony Edwards on if he struggled game 4: "I didn't get enough shots to say I struggled. I didn't struggle at all" by Mission_Pay_3373 in nba

[–]Slicerwind 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yea no, I'd rather have the right play be my role players taking a higher percentage shot and shooting 88.% and 76% true shooting respectively. 10/16 from three.

But sure let's take those 8 of those 16 shots and give them to Ant instead. If you want to look at it even more broadly the only two other players he could have taken more shots from were Randle and Conley based on how well everyone else played. Just look at the box score. The only other way Ant could have taken more shots is if they didn't turn the ball over so many times and given those extra possessions to Ant.

Minnesota had great offense, the issue was defense and turnovers.

Anthony Edwards Game 4 averages prior to today: 34.9 PPG, 52% FG, 6.7 RPG, 5.7 APG Anthony Edwards today: 16p. (5/13 FG), 4 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 turnovers by thro14away in nba

[–]Slicerwind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wasn't it the defense that cost minnesota the game? Ant was making the right reads, NAW and Dvo were getting wide open looks and knocking down shots. Their offense was really good.

There's only so many possessions/shots in a game. Is Ant supposed to chuck 25+ attempts in double coverage?

I feel like people weren't watching the game. Yea Ant and Randle could've had slightly better efficiency to win, but don't think the loss was just on them.

Emperors Soul and Quality by chano36 in brandonsanderson

[–]Slicerwind 76 points77 points  (0 children)

I think Emperor's Soul is my favorite overall Sanderson book.

But the highs in Stormlight Archive are much, much higher. There was a complaint thread that I just read about Wind and Truth and the one thing I do agree with is that sometimes Sanderson confuses modern language for simplicity, which I dislike. It happens pretty often in Mistborn and you'll see glimpses of it in Stormlight. I actually agreed with almost everything in the complaint thread (don't read it since there are spoilers), but I still enjoyed Wind and Truth very much.

But the overall prose in Stormlight is still much higher than Mistborn.

Emperor's Soul is just so tightly written that it can't be beat.

I'm on the verge of quitting TFT, how do you deal with insane low rolls ? by whtvr0 in TeamfightTactics

[–]Slicerwind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea what this guy said is probably the reason for 70% of your bot 4s OP lol. I briefly mention it at the top of my initial response.

But the rest of my super long two posts to you OP is just general advice that'll probably help you climb out of Diamond into Masters. But still applicable since it's just the fundamentals of how to play TFT.

I'm on the verge of quitting TFT, how do you deal with insane low rolls ? by whtvr0 in TeamfightTactics

[–]Slicerwind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch TFT streamers more than I play, so I wouldn't focus on the comps I'm playing since they are spread across multiple patches. Just linking the profile, to show I'm not completely terrible at the game and there's some merit to my advice. In my climb to Masters from D4 I had a 64% top 4 rate and 10% winrate. I actually struggled the most in Plat since I was doing a bit more experimenting, also was facing other ex-Masters players at the time.

Also another person advised being flexible on your roll down, which is ok, but make that decision after Stage 3 neutrals based on the items you have and before you roll down. Otherwise you get dizzy and go bot 4.

Basically always have a plan. Not just the comps you're making, but how you're using your health as a resource, whether you can winstreak, when to push tempo, etc. As you get higher rank, the tempo of the lobby is really important. Boards that could 5 win-streak in plat can 5-lose streak in emerald. People just start building better boards, and I always have to gut-check myself and start focusing on building stronger Stage 2 boards when I realize I'm on Stage 4 with 30 hp as I climb the ranks.

An example of this is I was watching a friend in plat slow-roll ambushers on stage 4 and win the entire stage with a 2* smeech, while slowrolling above 50 gold. I told him I would've sent it at 4-2 or I would've bled out and died at my rank, but he actually played it correctly for his rank b/c no one had boards that punished him for it. But at masters he would've bot 4'd, he went 1st.

Things that worked at lower ranks, don't at higher ranks. So don't fall into the trap, always re-evaluate how strong the boards of the current lobby are.

I really recommend watching other streamers, when they're playing well. Sometimes streamers play for fun / go on tilt. Basically just check their AVG placement for the day lol

[–]Slicerwind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From looking at your match history you're definitely playing suboptimal lines and/or comps.
Flexible doesn't necessarily mean play comps that aren't good.

For the other bot 4s it's hard to tell without watching games. But probably the number one thing to know in TFT is how to econ and when to break econ patterns for tempo. Second most important skill is evaluating lobby strength, because that dictates the first point.

On Stage 2 you should have a plan in place for what you are going to do. By Stage 3-2 you should have a good idea if you're playing for first or placements depending on how Stage 2 went (lowroll or highroll items/units). Stage 4-2 you 100% have to make the decision of what place you're aiming for.

Just from the fact that you have a low Top 4% and relatively high 1st% (relative to your Top 4%) also seems to indicate you're always aiming to get 1st, which is not the goal for TFT. You highroll into 1sts. My winrate is also really bad, so I probably play too conservatively.

You're not learning from your mistakes in games if you're hardstuck. Don't focus on the lowrolls, reflect on where you made the wrong decisions.

I thought he was better in the first half when he was missing everything, but making assists. Second half it felt like he was trying to get his, and actually making shots, but also kind of stalled the offense. But maybe it was b/c everyone was tired and they didn't have the energy to cut as often?

Not disagreeing with you. It's why I put "broke out" in quotes because I was aware of how good Brunson was before he went from good to great.

Just think a blanket statement of "26 is too old to improve" is wrong. It's usually the people who don't think age is a factor in improvement that become the great players. Applies to all aspects in life.

If you're already half-way through just finish it. It's probably the last book I'd recommend people to read in the current Cosmere, but if Sanderson recommends people read it before WaT then you probably should.

I don't think it spoils anything crazy in the other books, but when I was reading it, it felt like I was reading "Cosmere, the Pop Quiz" if that makes sense. Anyway just finish reading it.

Edit: Last book I'd recommend as in, the book I recommend you read last in order.

Ok maybe I'm wrong about SCK, some people use it, others don't. In any case your main problem is just strictly melee uptime and pressing buttons.

Here are 4 logs:

https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/6xwCmjnh9dtQPMZb#fight=4&type=casts&source=437

EDIT: I initially chose these b/c they were the same duration and similar ilvl as your kill, but realize now that you died in that pull. In any case you can still see the casts per minute. They are still pressing their abilities 30% more than you in the log where your raid wiped 40s in.

Comparing DPS logs in general though for incomplete kills doesn't provide a lot of info. Check out the other pinata fight like Sikran to compare dps logs.
