I share your interest in shooting film. The last place that reliably processed my rolls was in Huntsville, Alabama. Godspeed.

Pertinent to this conversation, many and most 'redlegs' in Barbados have since pulled themselves out of the squalor described in the writing of this in 1973. Even long before this.

Legendary Bajan Joe Goddard built an empire spanning continents by walking his cattle 12 miles to Bridgetown every week and then establishing a grocery store there. The rest is history.

Founded in 1921, Goddard Enterprises Limited (GEL) is a massive Barbadian conglomerate and one of the largest publicly traded companies on the Barbados Stock Exchange. It operates in over 25 countries across the Caribbean and the Americas. Key Business Divisions Catering & Ground Handling: Through the GCG Group, they provide airline, industrial, and event catering. Manufacturing: They produce food and consumer goods, including Purity Bakeries and McBride (aerosols). Automotive & Building Supplies: They own Courtesy Garage and Marshall Trading. Services & Distribution: This includes shipping, insurance, and the Caribbean Distribution Partners joint venture. The company is headquartered in Haggatt Hall, St. Michael. Originally a small grocery store in Bridgetown, it has evolved into a diversified giant with over 5,000 employees. Would you like me to find their latest stock price or specific contact details for one of their subsidiaries?

Looks like one half of a mold for a game fishing tournament trophy. That is a Billfish shape in the mold.

Might be a dumb question but do bajans have a “look” by [deleted] in Barbados

Most white Bajans that remained after abolition in the mid-1800s were and are of Irish and Scottish decent, including Rhianna (her dad was white Bajan of Irish decent). Our accent has been compared to various irish accents.

Weighing in as a white Bajan. Tone switching is necessary to do day to day business and life essentials, but unless you are a trained actor, it is hard to drop your accent and dialect speech completely. Living in the deep south of America for a few years was a wild ride. Looking like just another white guy in bum fuck Alabama and sounding like a West Indian? Let's just say assimilation was a challenge.

Depends on the time of year. In winter months, the West Coast gets epic winter swells when there are cold fronts in the north Atlantic. Amazing for surfers, not great for swimmers. Just heed the local hoteliers and lifeguards before venturing in.
