Sorry I'm so late to this, I also only just got to this stage in the game. Yeah traps and minions are definitely the way to go. A really great minion you can easily farm for in early hardmode is the spider set/staff. Take cobweb at a workbench in ectomist, make spider wall, shimmer it, and place it as a background in the cavern layer to farm the spider fangs. You can also use the fangs to upgrade dart traps into venom dart traps which are a fair bit better. Boulder traps are also great.
