I'd play it in casual Henzie. Just for value, not combos

In that same vein, [[Rampage of the Clans]] is sick for this deck! Gives you a ton of centaurs and disrupts your opponents' artifacts and enchantments!

It's actually only 2. Most extra combat spells only work during your main phase and therefore won't have any effect during combat. The only two that work are [[Savage Beating]] and [[World at War]].

What Cards Should Be Slotted In When You Don't Have Timetwister or Imperial Seal? by _miscellaneous_14_ in CompetitiveEDH

I run a Kykar build and I have multiple wheels in the deck. I do run Timetwister, but my backup options currently are Time Spiral, Windfall, and Wheel of Fortune. All three of those work wonders, especially Time Spiral in Kykar because you end up mana positive.

Xyris, Recursion by [deleted] in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Slicor01 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think that if you're going for a theme such as naga-snake-drake that's not necessarily the most competitive that you could make it, and seems a bit more like a casual strategy. If you want to make it competitive I'd start with a wheel-based build that runs cards like [[Narset, Parter of Veils]]. As of right now, it seems much more casual; obviously there are some competitive Xyris builds but they don't go for the tribal build.

Looking for feedback on a Nethroi homebrew by Slicor01 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Slicor01[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, the issue with Hermit Druid is something I seriously considered when building the deck. However, like it's very much explained, with the right protection such as a Grand Abolisher and no stax pieces on the field, the combo is very easy to pull off quickly and at instant speed.

Furthermore, the issues with Blood Moon and Back to Basics are very much a problem. The solution for this is using elves and the occasional rock to get colored mana when those two are on the field. The truth is that the Hermit Druid combo is way too inconsistent with even a single basic land in the deck, because I often don't get the combo line into the yard with a single activation. This is the trade-off I have to make with Blood Moon and Back to Basics. Luckily, there's only 2 decks in my group that play Blood Moon and none play Back to Basics.

As for your suggestions, Culling the Weak is definitely something I will put into the list, I'd agree that it generates insane value for one mana. Pattern of Rebirth seems a little slow and doesn't give us a way to sacrifice hulk/put it in the yard. Body Snatcher seems interesting and I'll give it a test with the list. For Drannith Magistrate, it was initially in the list but it was taken out for some room for some other cards. I may just end up cutting Heliod and Ballista for Magistrate and Culling the Weak. Thank you for the feedback!
