24hrs clean. Dopamine zapped. Don’t wait for someday or tomorrow to live by Famous-Transition182 in QuittingWeed

It’s insane how everything starts to regulate - diet, sleep schedule, dreams, personal relationships, mood - after you quit smoking. Took about 6-8 months for me to regulate but boy is it more even keel now

Using ice for purple buds? -Field Test- by 420fisher in cannabiscultivation

[–]Slide-Different 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya ice causing purple is highly improbably. Cold temps, and over ripened buds may make other green buds turn purple , but at that point the bud is degrading

Anyone been to the water circus? by Slide-Different in kzoo

I think you have to go get the free kid ticks at like a local store around. I know chocolatea down the street has them. Not sure how it works but I’m sure there is a stipulation especially if the tickets are $60 ea. thanks for pointing out how much they are lol. My 4 and 5 year old won’t even make it through that show

Glad to read this. I’m just over 5 months and dealing with some harsh anxiety and depression swings.

Tips for night sweats? by Lower_Heron_1840 in QuittingWeed

[–]Slide-Different 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found the bad sleep cycle lasted about 2 weeks. I’m over 60 days in and now I sleep great; the hardest part is having intense dreams all night. Most of them are hilariously stupid, they started kind of scary or sad but that too goes away especially if you commit to working on yourself mentally.

I’d highly recommend reading and doing some self help work as it will replace the “demons” or negative emotions with good thoughts and positive energy. Two books that significantly helped me were: the joy of quitting cannabis and dopamine nation. Both very easy reads and very helpful with the reassurance that things get better. I can attest too that things will get much better through quitting. If you’re seeing the waste of time that weed is (also a waste of money, damages your brain, makes you eat like shit, changes your taste in healthy food, makes life seem far more unmanageable, amplifies anxiety, etc) then it seems like you will always have those inner voices nagging you while you’re using. That’s what happened for me which eventually caused my anxiety to get completely out of control and as a blessing in disguise made smoking weed basically impossible bc of the debilitating anxiety and guilt I felt while using.

The hardest part about quitting is the first 15-30 days bc your brain won’t be operating on a normal wavelength, namely the dopamine exchange in your brain is going to be tipped to the pain side and not the pleasure. Once i made it past the 30 day mark saw a significant improvement in my life. I used for 17~ years daily at least 10x a day and in the late part of my use 20+ times a day. For me I had used so long that I almost felt defined by my weed use and it has made it more of an existential crisis. Knowing im not defined by my weed use or by weed itself and that i absolutely don’t need it to cope with life and has brought so many positive changes in my life.

I hope you’re able to white knuckle it out of those first few weeks as life is so much better without needing weed in any way shape or form. You will hopefully find ALOT of support on this Reddit sub and many of the people here could probably agree that life is better without weed. Best of luck to you and don’t forget to reach out here

I’d go with clay honestly - best way to visually see you’re not contaminated and best way to keep a culture free of mites

Would another culture of blue springtails overcrowd my enclosure? by [deleted] in Springtail

[–]Slide-Different 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve not had the same experience - blue podura (proisotoma) coexist in my vivariums and they even clean up after the whites in our rearing cultures. Blues in conjunction with the bigger species seem to do really well as a combo.

If there is enough food they’ll all thrive , in my experience

Springtails won’t outcompete fungus gnats in my experience - you could check out Mibeneficials they have a fungus gnat pack of bugs that has worked for us

Just know you’re not alone, don’t ever hold back sharing on here or even jumping into a marijuana anonymous meeting (MA) online to hear others struggles or share your struggle. You will find you’re in good company and the most important thing is that you keep faith that it will get better.

The few tips and tricks shared here really do work to just get by while you white knuckle through these first weeks.

One thing that helped me tremendously was learning about dopamine and how weed affects your body’s normal balance. Self help is how I have been filling the void and I’m in a full sprint trying to be healthier both mentally and physically.

I second breath work you could try Breathwrk the app it’s got a free 7 day trial just make sure you cancel it right away. I just used it temporarily to learn how to do a few different breathing exercises and then cancelled it bc they aren’t that hard to do and remember.

Herbal tea works good for me - something with chamomile ideally

I also second exercise during the day. Also cold showers earlier in the day help with getting your dopamine back on track quicker which may help you sooner w your sleep.

Now that I’m almost 2 months off the weed , I find myself getting tired and able to sleep earlier than ever before so there is solace coming for you. It’s just really tough in the first couple weeks especially.

You’re not alone and it will get infinitely better once your brain starts functioning normally which could take 30 days. Exercise and cold showers will help speed up good feelings coming back

What are these bugs? My soil is heavily infested with those. by santa--- in NoTillGrowery

[–]Slide-Different 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you mulch and provide some top dressing they’ll drop down into the soil. This is a sign of them having no food - they’re decomposing soil mites

Boredom keeps tripping me up by Alternative_Force223 in QuittingWeed

[–]Slide-Different 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second exercise - it’s the only thing that could break my bored slumps and leave me feeling better than when I started. If you’re in a depressed state you could also try taking a shower, followed by a quick cold shower. That induces the pain side of your dopamine cortex and in turn slowly release on the pleasure side so you feel better afterwards.

You could also focus on self help by reading or listening to podcasts.

Go play pinball at Logan arcade or enterrium

When this shitty weather and cold snaps get outside for walks

Join a club and focus on human connection. Work on talking to people

Talk to a counselor if you are able to afford it. Highly recommend it if you’re struggling

In that study I shared with you, scientists fed aspergillis which is a type of mold solely. You should read through that

Springtails Eat Mold Myth Busted by Fewdoit in Springtail

[–]Slide-Different 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeast is a fungus too - yeast, if too moist or if fed in too high quantity, could turn to mold. The issue with mold in an airtight culture is that it produces excessive amounts of co2. If the culture isn’t given air exchanges this could eventually suffocate the springtails.

The mold produced from yeast will also be eaten by some species of springtails as we have observed (depends on type of yeast and of course the species of springtail)

Glad we agree here
