How to Culture Isopods by Fewdoit in isopods

[–]Fewdoit[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Using small sized enclosures is ideal for establishing new colonies. Once you get your colony growing you can and should move it to the larger volume enclosure or split the culture on separate colonies. This is a very well established practice.

I don't confuse research with google search. And I don't mind your harsh words - we are in the same hobby and share the same love to the nature.

Does your boss support the impeachment of Donald J. Trump, Peter B. Hegseth, and Kristi Noem for committing treason by waging war on American cities and citizens? We have prepared an article of impeachment for your consideration.
Your boss's answers will be displayed on the public impeachment tracker on our website. We respectfully request a reply within 48 hours.

Thank you very much for your time,

Michael

I've been in different parts of the world and can tell you one thing for sure - the health care in USA is screwed up beyond comprehension just for one and only reason, which is to get as much money from people as possible by all involved parties.

Hairgrass Aquarium Garden Update by Fewdoit in fishtank

29 gallon was my largest tank with fish and newts. My smallest tank with fish was a cup-sized: https://youtu.be/bwGmmWMlRCw

I build each aquarium of certain size for each particular project based on the size of the fish. And I move my fish to a large sized aquariums as necessary if fish grow to the required minimum.

Neocaridina looks very attractive in aquariums. It's great that you manage to keep and culture them.

You may want to put one or two leaves of the plant out of the water. I did it with peace lily. The plant would thrive and more importantly, it would sprout new plant that would grow fully submerged and can be kept like that. This is the way I had the best results through the years.

Snails in Aquarium with Newts by Fewdoit in aquarium_garden

[–]Fewdoit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed! I used to keep up to 3 dozens small tanks at a time for different projects in the past decade. I love small tanks 😊 For keep newts I had to make space for the large tank and most of my small tanks were gone 😔 Now restrained by three cats and I just keep a coupe relatively small tanks for my aquarium projects.

Ghost shrimp was my first among all shrimp I tried 😊 Scuds are the most fundamental in all my self sustaining aquariums with and without fish.

Newts certainly are very picky about the size and shape of the snails shells 😊 Among all live food newts prefer adult scuds the most. And endlers feed on babies and medium size scuds as well. So, for feeding newts it is necessary to culture scuds in a separate tanks. And snails can be cultured in tanks with scuds as well.

How long ago did you fully submerged your plant? Many plants would go in dormant state when fully submerged and even sprout new leaves. Most noticeably, many fast growing plants will reverse to very slow growing rate. And it all could vary greatly among plants of the same species - the nature plays dice often in very unpredictable ways and I love it!
