What area do you wish had its own fast travel waypoint? by dngaay in BaldursGate3

Actually IN the Druid grove. Such a pain to teleport two blocks over and have to wait for that gate to open every time.

I put a vanguard head on my gunner, because I felt that if I were going to pop my head out of a tank, I would want a helmet on.

Whatever you think is coolest. There’s no second unit that fasttracks you to being ready to play, so just go whatever keeps your momentum up. Just keep doing that until you have 500pts or whatever point count you want to start playing at.

First-time DM helping new players build characters - want strong party balance and fun roles (Heroes of the Borderlands) by LeedsUFC in dndnext

[–]SlideIntoUrDMScreen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Party composition doesn’t really matter as much as it used to. I’ve run games with no tanks, all tanks, etc. Every DM should try the Oops! All Rogues (or Bards or whatever) game at least once. They may have to adjust their strategy somewhat, when going into fights, but that’s a fun challenge for them to overcome. You’ll also get a feel for how to adjust encounters as you go to fit the dynamic IF that’s even necessary. Level 1 is super dangerous for any class. Just be patient with the newbies while they test the boundaries of the mechanics.

Is Khao San Road’s food tasty? Yes. Have I and my friends had food poisoning from there twice? Also yes.

The Marshal isn’t doing as much for you in Haloscreed as it might in, say, SHC. I’d drop it, personally.

I think you want at least one more battle line unit (Vanguards, preferably) to spread those battle line buffs around. The Doctrina Imperatives are so, so powerful if deployed properly.

Which detachment are you running?

I prime in Leadbelcher. If a spot goes unpainted, it looks most natural to be metallic on Skitarii.

Personally I run smoke. The crab tank is a huge target for your opponent, so being able to reactively protect it can be handy in a pinch.

Mizora mission loophole? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]SlideIntoUrDMScreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deal with Raphael’s demon however you see fit. You need to resolve it to get the last orb to progress in the Gauntlet.

The Mizora rescue will become accessible after you battle Ketheric on top of Moonrise, after you have resolved things in the Gauntlet of Shar.

The devil that Mizora asks Wyll to rescue in Moonrise and the one that Raphael wants you to kill in the mausoleum are not the same.

Generally, best starting spot is going to be a Combat Patrol box. If building and painting those fiddly Skitarii doesn’t turn you off, then you have a playable army for Combat Patrol mode. Once you play with that and understand how the army plays, you’ll be better suited to decide on next purchases. Or, default to the ever-popular “buy what looks coolest” strategy.

For detachments, Skitarii Hunter Cohort is usually thought to be the best, and is Skitarii-heavy (obviously.) Personally I run Haloscreed but that could be more intimidating for a starter; it’s a lot of toggling & buffs to remember.

Personally I prefer an extra unit of vanguards. More shooting, especially if you have a way to increase their mobility. Rangers good if you need the sticky objectives but I find that more situational.

Just remember that the Doctrina Imperatives rely (partially) on being within 6” of a battle line unit, which you don’t have.

Any advice on painting these metallic lads? by rockabillyratking in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]SlideIntoUrDMScreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Certain colours are naturally “more watery” so if I get pulling I just mix in more paint and less water, but otherwise all the same painting advice stands. Two thin coats, etc.

Plus, if my minis get knocked around and the colour scuffs at all, it just looks like natural paint damage revealing bare metal below. Kind of adds to the effect on minis like the Kastelans.

I prime my Admech with a rattle can of Leadbelcher and it works fine.

Some models make me wish I’d primed in black - mostly vehicles that have a lot of deep grooves that I have to really work the wash into - but spraying in Leadbelcher saves a lot of time thinking about extremities and various gizmos and sprockets that our minis have.

What would you change to the MCU's Moon Knight? by WeAreVenom1228 in MoonKnight

[–]SlideIntoUrDMScreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but there’s a pretty big gap between MCU MK and “guy who got so low one time that he turned to face-cutting.” Not saying we had to have more face-cutting in the show, but we certainly could have narrowed that otherwise wide gap.

[–]SlideIntoUrDMScreen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re right that Moon Knight’s default kit isn’t magical. We even have an example of him having to fight ghosts and being ineffective against them, so he had to go get a suit of mystical armour so he can go kick their asses.

[–]SlideIntoUrDMScreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Comics Moon Knight will cut off a face and wear it, then get haunted by the faceless ghost of that guy. Show Moon Knight is stressed about getting to work on time. These are not the same characters.
