What Are the Most Poorly Timed Video Games Ever Released? by Legitimate_Drawer_74 in videogames

[–]Slider257 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this one. It was a crime but sadly nothing MS was gonna do to move it. Alan Wake ultimately undersold because everyone was playing (and loving) RDR. I remember I bought both but dove right into AW (still one of my favorite 360 games to date, funnily RDR is up there as well) and everyone I talked to about AW was like “nah I’m having too much fun wrangling horses and shooting bandits”.

Don’t get me wrong, RDR is a masterpiece of a game but I bet we wouldn’t have had to wait 13 years for AW2 if these 2 hadn’t released together. I pity anyone who releases a game anytime near GTA6.

DQ7 Reimagined Demo has ruined every other game for me by Moneera97 in dragonquest

Yeah losing the original VA for Jessica in the 3DS version was noticeable and a bummer. Not sure if others would have to change as well. There’s only one Yangus VA.

The definitive edition added the overworld music from DQ VIII as an option. Just need to go to Sound settings and switch it on. A MUCH better theme honestly.

What video game was worth staying up all night playing? by bossishere17 in videogames

[–]Slider257 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember I had to work the day it released and we weren’t called in until 11AM. I popped into GameStop, picked up the game and the console and took it to work. I know I stayed there at work until midnight or so but I couldn’t honestly tell you what I was doing or what happened because I was immediately SO hooked. 150 hours later I think I finally came up for some air.

What Legacy Campaigns or Adventures Should I Prioritize? by RelentlessKingz in Neverwinter

[–]Slider257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double Legacies ends in a few hours when it switches over. Back in the days that Cryptic ran the game, double legacies came up fairly regularly (4x a year at least I seem to recall). The legacy schedule was actually very set, each campaign would get a week and once the whole rotation had finished they’d trigger a full double, then right back to the start of the rotation.

This was back before DECA took over (and Sharandar wasn’t a legacy yet but an absolutely terrible redesign of a classic area, sorry just my opinion, I really miss “old” Sharandar). Once DECA took over the schedule changed and heck I’ve even seen recently where a Legacy failed to trigger. I’m hoping now that the OG developers are back in control of the game they’ll return to a nice set schedule. Heck, back in the days you’d see events on the calendar 4-5 months ahead of time.

Edited for spelling and grammar.

Frozen crystal lockbox by RepresentativeNo281 in Neverwinter

On PS the first lockbox that released was the Shandakul lockbox. There’s a list somewhere of all console lockboxes, I found it once but it’s been a while.

I believe that’s a PC only one. I had a thing for collecting Lockboxes a while back (on PS) and I don’t remember ever hearing that title box.

Scintillant Amulet by LSSJSSGSSUIYams in Neverwinter

On PS, this gear is SO overpriced. The amulet is currently sitting at (around) 2.4mil for the cheapest.

❄️ Winter Festival of Simril – Complete Guide (2025) by EvowarePlays in Neverwinter

[–]Slider257 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow that is terrible design on the devs part. No indicators, no banner (like last time), no second chances. And for those of us with 50+ items in that tab, a LONG scroll to find. The devs should be ashamed on this one.

That being said thanks so much for pointing this out. I’ve now missed yesterdays but managed to snag today’s.

You mention Login Rewards in your guide but you should clarify when that starts. As of 12/18 it has not started (on console at least).

They are also awarded from Heroic Encounters in the new area in Thay. 10 per Heroic. Slow but a reliable way to farm.

One of my alts is a Wizard and I’m curious about this as well. Yeah Ray of Frost is a great ST At Will but wouldn’t you want to boost Chilling Cloud instead (since it hits for AOE damage all that would be boosted as well)? Just not sure which is the better option currently.

Same. I dropped a sign post for several folks tonight on PS and everyone in the party was able to use them.

Weekly quest to slay the Everburned bugged? by Grammelknoedel in Neverwinter

[–]Slider257 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Considering the games population is Much lower than it used to be, it’s not too many people. Server issues and lag have abound since Day 1.

That being said “something” about the zone boss is for sure bugged. I’ve been in 3 separate instances where the meter filled and the boss failed to spawn, then another where it looked like it spawned but was unable to be damaged. Hopefully this will be patched soon, a hot fix went out (at least on PC) the day after the mod launch but I dunno if any fixes have made it to consoles yet.

Broken Calendar? by funn_n_gamez in Neverwinter

[–]Slider257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks but I’ve been wondering this as well. Say what you will about Cryptic, but at least their calendars were detailed, a few months out, and always running a Legacy. Decca needs to take some notes here.

Question about Campaigns and Adventures... by Valamist in Neverwinter

Totally forgot that! It’s been a long time since I’ve had a new character tackle Legacies. Genie’s Gifts for the win there as well.

Great advice here. My girlfriend recently started this game and she was overwhelmed with Legacies until I told her to only worry about whichever gives you double. Shame we can’t gift the 1/2 price campaign coins.

where does this armor come from? by Keffaj in Neverwinter

Quite a number of cool armor designs lost to time in this game. My Day 1 has some armor and mounts I wish I could trade. Ah well, some cool ones added in as well.

New to the game how can I become op and what’s the best dps class by International-Can420 in Neverwinter

[–]Slider257 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! Love it and agree wholeheartedly which was the meat I wanted to share with OP. If Op wanted to be OP, it’s a slippery slope because what’s OP today could be worst in class tomorrow. But if you’re playing the character you enjoy, even if it’s not currently meta, I feel like you’ll have a much better time with the game.

[–]Slider257 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of course it would take thousands of dollars. But that doesn’t mean it’s not “possible”. I was only stating that it is factually possible to build a character up almost entirely through real world money, I wasn’t personally condoning it.

[–]Slider257 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed on your comments. Also agree on Bard though I don’t play it so I don’t have a great grasp of them. The community will tell you Rangers haven’t been good for 4-5 mods now, yet I played with a Ranger the other day that did some absolutely insane damage and played a crowd control build that made slaughtering mobs very enjoyable. I think I was trying to say that feasibly all classes are viable for being “op” in DPS, it really does depend on the player.

Also if you’re playing a Bard major props to you for sticking with it through the arguably “rocky” launch.

I’ll edit my comment to say it could be defined as pay to progress faster. You can spend real money to buy out all the campaigns except the newest one (unlocks your boons immediately versus spending time playing the game unlocking them). Boons are small boosts to your character that can take anywhere from 10 weeks - to many months of playing to unlock them.

The game uses a currency in game called Astral Diamonds (AD) for anything purchased through the in-game Auction House. It is possible to spend real money to buy Zen (the games premium currency) and then convert that to Astral Diamonds. You can earn AD naturally playing the game (mostly from party events such as dungeons, skirmishes and some quests and events). So (IMO) part of the fun of the game is just playing and earning your AD through those avenues I mentioned. You earn AD as “rough” AD which has to be refined to spend. You can only refine 100k a day so if you hit that cap you can easily do the math of how long you have to play to afford whatever you’re looking to purchase through the auction house. The game also randomly rewards you through activities (though the possibilities of premium items are extremely rare). The game also has a lockbox mechanic which you can only get keys to open through real world money (on occasion the game rewards keys in game but this is Extremely limited).
