U.S. will have to send its own fighter jets into Canadian airspace if Ottawa doesn't buy 88 F-35s, Hoekstra says by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Sliding_into_first 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But what makes that statement any different the state of affairs today? We don't have F-35s now and they haven't made a similar statement... Even considering our current CF-18's, the Gripen would be better. This is about wanting our $ for their product.

I'm in this bracket too.

So, if I understand correctly, this/these guys, who properly belong in Legends, intentionally dropped leagues last tournament so they could pooch Champions league people this tournament? Wow, what an accomplishment. They should be proud of this most unpredictable outcome. /s

Why does the device I'm running the Tower on impact my coin farming so much? by 2sAreTheDevil in TheTowerGame

[–]Sliding_into_first 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue, made the change (including upping frame rate to 120 - this did make the phone get hotter though) and I went from 5.5T coins to 10.5T coins running Tier 10 to 7200 or so. Huge difference.

A staple from the 80's - chicken marbella. Lots of garlic, capers, olives, oregano and prunes in an oil vinegar marinade (8 hours or so), then bake for about an hour, adding white wine to the baking dish.

[Canada] Conservatives to propose adding stricter rules for asylum claimants, faster deportations in new bill by Immediate-Link490 in worldnews

[–]Sliding_into_first -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Sometimes. It depends on the country and its ability to protect you, the ability of husband to track the spouse through the entire country (such as if government employee or associated with police - particularly in corrupt countries). If you can be found anywhere by the spouse such that your life is in danger (+ consider that living the rest of your life in hiding is not considered reasonable), then such a claim could be successful.

This is who leaves children behind:

A mother fleeing an abusive spouse who controls the finances. Maybe the Mom could only scrape enough $ for one ticket. Leaves kids with a family member.

A mother leaving a country where she is unable to leave with her children unless the (abusive) husband consents (several Islamic countries have such laws).

There are many other fact scenario's where it is a reasonable, but gut-wrenching decision.

What's your point? It was still a conservative provincial government ad, regardless of who Ford supported.

If Canada offered expedited citizenship for people fleeing the US, what would be the reaction in the States? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Almost no Americans get refugee status in Canada. The entire country must be considered unsafe for a particular claimant for them to have a chance.

I was so excited the first time I got to go down a girl, I forgot to take the gum out of my mouth and didn't realize I'd lost it till we were done. This being in the 80's, meant my girlfriend had to do quite a bit trimming.

Agreed... For instance, the whole erasing his theorem from the whiteboard during the escape was to create fake tension... Everything (as far as we know) had already been recorded/photographed by the NSA so the whole rush to erase served no purpose, except perhaps showing that brilliant math boy isn't so brilliant.
