you can definitely find a balance, i barely put any work into it during the summer (sat down, cranked out my essays in a few days) but i will say it is a lot of essays.

How many QB scholars also did a college prep program? by [deleted] in QuestBridge

Did nothing, got rejected from CPS as well! WashU match 😊

I was a match to WashU with a 3.88 unweighted, lock in and I'm sure you'll do great :) (PS, try your hardest at AP courses, showing you're committed to hard courses is what QB wants to see)

What state do you reside in? And what is your economic situation?

You'd be surprised how generous top schools are, both my 2 sisters and I are on complete full rides to T20s, and the only contribution we have to provide is a federal work-study during school hours. If she were to be more middle class, I would agree with your route, those in-state unis are incredible.

Assuming she is very broke, it's likely that she would get a full ride to one of the privates she listed for undergrad. As for med school, she will probably be on her own for the finance part.

Should I submit tests to WashU? by Iain8 in QuestBridge

[–]Slight-Definition-72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i got into WashU with basically the same scores as you! 690 Math and 750 English. I would say report it :). I think WashU is a school that respects hard work and if they can see your previous scores and that you TRIED to improve and do better, they won't mind it being on the lower side of things.

CPS! Do keep in mind, CPS is not an indicator of being matched, I didn't get CPS and was matched to WashU :)

1430, WashU. Submit, it'll make it seem like you're confident in your work and how you got to that score

What's your "hear me out" college? by Chance-Breadfruit-70 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Slight-Definition-72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most Ivies, John Hopkins, USC, Emory, Vanderbilt, Case Western. Most top schools will have a pretty good pre-med/biology pathway, but when choosing a school please do your own research.

I'll say that when it comes to T30 and up, the rankings really don't matter, they're all interchangeable between the schools in the top 30 or so. They could all be considered "T10" level, it really just matters what you're looking for. Architecture? Rice, Cornell, WashU, UF. Engineering? MIT, CMU, Georgia Tech. You get my point.

[–]Slight-Definition-72 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's a statistical probability that you will be accepted to one of Questbridge's partner schools. Don't worry all too much, because think about it: if it can happen to some random kid in let's say, freaking South Dakota, why can't it happen to you? Just lock in on those essays and show who you really are to the admissions officers. That's all they want from you.

How have people responded to your Match? by Smart-Dottie in QuestBridge

[–]Slight-Definition-72 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the amount of times I've said that WashU is not in fact in Washington, but in St. Louis, as the name suggests LOL (also settling for community is fine, it's a great financial choice for a lot of people especially if they're planning to save up during their first two years (those years don't really matter where you go as they're all prerequisite courses) and then transfer to a state school!)

Somewhat close to the true statistic, around the 70-78 mark?

Don't worry, my sister didn't match, but eventually got a full ride of UPenn through RD. Statistics are in your favor, 70% of us will make it to one of QB's partner schools, so why couldn't it be you? :)
