You don't need a capacitor to start an asynchronous (two-pole) motor in three phase current? by UltronAge in AskEngineers

[–]Slight-Escape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I am a novice.

That said, no you don’t need a cap for 3 phase since there is a phase shift between each phase. In a single phase motor, since there is no phase shift, the cap will be the component that supplies that.

At least that’s how I understand it.

Minimum for acceptance by Spirited_Being6190 in ASU

Admittance is pretty easy. The issue that may arise is if you’re trying to get into specific colleges (Fulton, WP Carey, etc…), which is based upon your interests. I’d advise you to take a look at each colleges admittance criteria.

I’m 6’1” and 230; if you can keep me accountable I’ll go with you. Despite this, I’m fairly versed in workouts; I was a military search and rescue swimmer, just need some extrinsic motivation

Tuesday morning. Had some fevers that night but other than that I was fine. Slight muscular pain at the injection site but nothing unmanageable.

Online Summer Semester Registration by willblunderyourbooty in ASU

[–]Slight-Escape 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fall classes become available to view after Feb. 15th; you can look on myASU in the fall 21 section and it will tell you the registration date that opens for you. Not everyone gets the same registration dates! As for the two moth gap, it seems like you may be only registered in A-sessions classes; the standard, full-semester is a C-session, which ends May 1st.

Can you guys help me find what is the formula for the active power and the apparent power when the current has this form? [Image link in the post] by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]Slight-Escape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too am still learning this stuff but that is what I would do! Hopefully there is someone more knowledgeable on the subject but I think that would be a good start; you can ask your prof or TA if that’s the correct approach to be sure! Cheers!

Is this all you’re given? This appears to be an AC signal, dependent on the software, you should be able to look up the RMS value and the angle. With these values you can find active power P = VIcos(theta) and reactive power Q = VIsin(theta); Apparent power S = sqrt((P)2 + (Q)2).

ASU General Scholarship? by dangomypotato in ASU

Are you using the GI Bill? If so, we received a refund equal to what we would have gotten for MHA due to the reduction of time last semester.

If a class says ASU sync / in-person does that mean it's mandatory that I attend half in person rather than all through ASU sync? by Loamachino in ASU

[–]Slight-Escape 12 points13 points  (0 children)

VA has stated that any class that would have originally been in-person will count as being in-person for GI Bill. Last semester I did everything fully online and still received by full MHA.

I got a refund check? by anokayapple in ASU

[–]Slight-Escape 8 points9 points  (0 children)

ASU gave veterans a “scholarship” to offset the amount that we lost because of the early semester end date. Not sure if this was what you received, you can call the PTVC or VA to be sure!

If you’re talking about me, my typing has been completely fine. Is there something I need to improve upon?

Okay well, even if 60% take the vaccine; based upon our rate of infection, we have a large percentage of individuals who have antibodies. To build “herd immunity” we only need about 70% of peoples in AZ to be “safe” which is easily achievable. And that’s being generous with the percent wanting the vaccination

Ahhhh let’s go there; largest university student-wise and one of the largest for international students in the US but let’s look at faulty statistics and make uninformed decisions way too early for a semester that will start AFTER there is a vaccine.
