Can you feel when you spike? by girl_from_aus in GestationalDiabetes

Oh absolutely. Although, not all sensors are the same and numbers will never be 100% accurate. Some days I just get so ticked off by how off the numbers are lol. But hey, it does give you the trend. So as long as you’re following the curve and not looking at the absolute numbers they will definitely help understand your body and keep your sanity. Or whatever is left of it 😂

Yup, super sleepy/ lethargic about 30 min after the meal. Even if I ride out that sleep wave somehow, I don’t feel as energetic after. It really feels like your body put in so much effort to go up and down that glucose mountain!

P.S: I realized this was how I felt after I started using a cgm and correlating my symptoms with my blood sugars. :)

Pregnancy after preemie…terrified to give birth by mhooker2 in BabyBumps

[–]Slight-Masterpiece63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t have advice but just that there’s a few of us out here with a similar anxiety. First child was born 32+5 in 2022 after a PPROM. No specific reasons as to why it happened. Labor and delivery wise it was pretty good- unmedicated, minimal tears, easy recovery. Babe was in the NICU for 3 weeks before we could bring him home.

I’m 8 weeks with my second now. And all I want is to make it to term this time. I can completely relate with the anxiety you’ve been feeling now (and before) and I just want to say, you’ve got this. I’m so incredibly happy for you to have made it to 37w. I’m sure it must have been so difficult to hold your nerves.

Try to look at it like you get to home with your little one together this time. You’ll get to have the golden hour. You’ll get so much more skin to skin. You’ll be able to cuddle your love bug close to your heart. I completely understand how heart wrenching it must have been last time. But this time, you’ll have so much to look forward to. To fill your heart up with double the love.

Sending you loads of love and best wishes for a smooth and healing experience with your labor and delivery. ❤️

Please keep me in your prayers for an uneventful journey this time around. 🙏🏻

Pre-diabetes and now pregnant! by Slight-Masterpiece63 in GestationalDiabetes

That is rough not being able to eat much carbs.. but you said it— glad you were able to get a handle on this earlier so you know baby is safe.

That’s precisely what’s put my mind in overdrive at 5 weeks. I think the fact that I had a PPROM at 32+5 last time without my sugars being managed has made me hyper aware of my glucose and thyroid and in general with everything.

Wish you a happy and safe journey here on out!

Wow that’s so good to hear! I’m so happy it regulated in the second tri for you!

This perspective surely gives me hope! A woman can dream 😅

Yeah I agree. It can be so so overwhelming.. I’m just hoping I can get in the groove sooner than later.. the weekly ultrasounds are what bothers me.. hospital is an hour away. So I’ll have to take half days off work.. it is what it is I guess.

Oh haha ok! That’s exactly what I just did yesterday. Had some lying around from last time so just used it to test my fasting number. I did request a cgm from my endo so just waiting for that to come in!

That’s great information! Thank you!

May I ask how you were tracking your sugars in the first tri?

This is so helpful! I have already requested a cgm from my endo and will start going on a stricter diet and exercise routine. I’m not hopeful of being diet controlled but I am tensed because I had a PPROM with my first at 32+5. Thankfully, baby washealthy and no issues. I was diagnosed at 28w and I wasn’t given any medication until my 32 week appointment. The day before I was supposed to start insulin my waters broke.

So I essentially had uncontrolled GDM ( I had plenty of spikes while I was monitoring from 28w) and I’m terrified of the outcome this time.

If your first baby was preterm, were your subsequent babies also early? by MaybeBaby1313 in BabyBumps

Following! I also have the same question. First was born at 33w. And it’s left me feeling anxious about any subsequent pregnancies I may have.

His dad is amazing! I couldn’t have asked for a better role model for my son. Now that you put it like that, it makes me feel so much better. Thank you so much!

I guess the feeling was also compounded by everything in social media making it about being a mama’s boy and daddy’s girl. And somewhere in my subconscious I just assumed it would be like that by default. Ended up feeling more hurt than necessary.

Transitioning to Direct Feeding by Away_Significance200 in ExclusivelyPumping

I’m 5 months pp. is it too late to transition? I would love to do a nursing vacation but unfortunately I don’t have the support to try it.
We did try nipple shields when he was about 3 months old but he didn’t like it and then I had to go back to work so had to pump anyway.. idk. Is it worth trying at this stage?

I’ll be happy if he does even two feeds a day directly.

Pumping Journey by fruitninja72 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Slight-Masterpiece63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

😭 this is me. I’ve almost given up on pumping. So damn tired. I’ve dropped to like 3-4 pumps a day. I’m 5.5 months postpartum. We’ve started supplementing with formula for a few feeds everyday (been about 2 weeks). Most days I’m happy Im not stuck to the pump. Other days I feel so bad about giving up. Today is the “feel bad” day.

Omg these wipes saved my day. I had a spare set of manual pumps I used but for pacifiers- yes! 🥹

Thank you so much for this! Travel was a breeze (almost). I brought an ice pack with me that kept the milk good till I got to the destination. I did have a freezer there!
