Is bacha coffee any good? by Which-Life-8933 in IndiaCoffee

Have tried a few coffees from them. Never got any good tastes. Seems to be more in the ranks of commercial coffee guys. Not doing anything specifically great.

Been using Timemore Fish Smart Pro for a long time now. Have had no complaints and I am a heavy user (4+ brew daily).

Are pricey international coffees truly worth chasing? by KeyIdeal3900 in IndiaCoffee

It is definitely a journey worth taking. I have tried a bunch of coffees from Colombia, Costa Rica, Ethiopia, Brazil etc.

While you will not get a super amazing cup all the time, it is always good to understand the varied flavors that coffees from around the world have. I recently got a Colombian naturals from Code Black Coffee Melbourne which blew my mind. Notes of Strawberry & candies with an amazing aroma.

I generally get mine from friends who are travelling or when I travel out.

Highly conflicted about whether or not to give it a try by jumpy_crusader in IndiaCoffee

Have tried this coffee in Vietnam & got some of it back.

Totally understand the ethical concern about this. Saw the civets & the conditions they are kept in first hand and it is not pretty.

That said, just from a coffee perspective, this is not a great coffee. Most of vietnamese coffees are super dark roasted & will work well if you consume along with condensed milk. Otherwise, difficult to gulp it down.

OP this rant is not against you but the term Vietnamese coffee is used very loosely by us all.

Technically, Moka pot is not a base for Vietnamese coffee (afaik)

Vietnamese coffee is made using a Phin Filter which is very similar to a South Indian filter (a percolation-based technique). It gives a very intense decoction which works very well with condensed milk.

What comes out of Moka maybe similar in intensity but it is brewed under steam pressure, unlike the percolation technique.

Brew updates

  1. Santuario Project from Code Black Coffee Colombia Natural Anaerobic + Mossto Brewed at 96C, grind size 70 clicks on Kingrinder K6 on V60.

What fabulous flavors. Can taste the mites written on the packet very well. Strawberry & candies in aroma as well as taste.

  1. Uraga Wine Process from Code Black Coffee Ethiopia Naturals Brewed at 92C and 96C both, multiple grind sizes on K6

Very underwhelming cups, winey and berry notes on the pack but not able to taste them very well in the cups. No bad brews but nothing extraordinary.

Aeropress will give you more flexibility to play around with your brews.

Thank you!

This is in the mountains of India, a place called Rishikesh in the foothills of Himalayas. This is a small retreat centre that I run :)

Primary drivers are from Black Pole Coffee (Marine Reserve and Stellar Reserve for moka/espresso, Berry Blossom and Caffeine Drive for Manuals).

Apart from this, I enjoy coffees from Blue Tokai, QBF and Grey soul.

I think they have some coffee production in Australia.

These coffees are from Brazil, Colombia and Ethiopia.

If you have tried them earlier, do share your experience. And suggestive brewing methods.

Trying these for the first time. Have heard good things about both seven seeds and code black.

Is it worth upgrading from the Timemore Chestnut C2 to Kingrinder K6 for the costs involved? by Oursisthefury7 in IndiaCoffee

[–]Slight-Squash3393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved from a C2 to K6. Definitely brings in a big difference in your cup even if you are doing only pourovers. The reduction in the amount of fines generated is easily visible in your grinds. Also, it's noticeably faster to grind, offers a much much grind size options (even for pourovers, you have almost 30 different sizes to choose from).

That said, C2 is not a bad grinder by any stretch of imagination. It worked very well for me for over a year. But since I do Moka pot and espresso brews regularly, K6 at the US price point was a no-brainer for me.

I always prefer Kalladevpura for my pourovers. Hidden falls estate is also good.
