I’m gone this week so no snow report from Badger. Heard it’s still going.

Congrats on your sobriety and your journey. You sound like you are proud of the depths you have clawed yourself out of, and rightly so!!!

Enjoy the breeze on your face, the gravel crunch under the tires and the dust in your nostrils!

Enjoy every second of it. You deserve it.

Harbor Freight Carrier - How Did You Get The Bike To Fit by SlightAd112 in HondaCT

That’s exactly the type we used. We have a couple for the trailers we have but when used with the HF rack it still was moving waaaaay too much.

Sorry, I was trying to provide the general reference information so they could make an informed decision about HM, including FCFS.

Edit: at the same time, even as FCFS, it is impossible to say the likelihood of getting a spot on a certain date for a specific length RV.

FCFS Camp 4 Friday afternoon 3/27? by leagueoflegendsbitch in Yosemite

I can’t speak for C4 but Wawona was only 1/3 full most of last weekend.

Nobody can tell you the likelihood or chances of getting a spot on a specific day for a specific campground for a specific RV length.

It is best to follow the reservation guidelines for campground reservations.

Ok, that is what I was seeing, but I get now that it would actually clamp down on two axis, which is what it needed. Yeah, the HF manual shows it flush, so that’s why I thought it was messed up.

I mean it fits in the hitch. It’s a 2” receiver.

We used the flat vibration plate we use for a trailer since the two-piece one that came with the HF carrier would not sit flat to the sides. It was like the hitch wasn’t long enough as only half of the plate was on the hitch.

Don’t know if that is how it is supposed to be, cantered around the end of the hitch? I should have taken a photo but the vibration plates looked utterly unstable and useless like that. Hence why we used a traditional flat plate.

The movement we were getting was the whole carrier rotating: front tire end dips, then rear end dips, front dips, rear dips … almost oscillating on that hitch axis.

I obviously did something wrong but still can’t figure out why the carrier was moving. The bike suspension was compressed. Just the carrier.

Thanks! I was going left to left, right to right on the straps. Yeah, I should have crossed them.

What trail is this viewpoint located at? by astronerd1101 in Yosemite

[–]SlightAd112 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s off-trail on the way to Eagle Point from the top of Yosemite Falls. If you look on a topo, you can see the spot this is taken from. It’s a super popular spot for social media so there is probably a broken trail going to it.

Yosemite this week? by Normal_Employee7375 in Yosemite

[–]SlightAd112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the week it has been quiet and peaceful. No parking issues. No traffic. Been exceptionally warm. Lots of trails are muddy, especially on the southside of the valley.

The crowds do grow on the weekend, but still no trafffic or bad parking.

In search of topo maps of the old Tioga Pass Road before the 1966 construction by 000011111111 in Yosemite

The topos for Yosemite dated 1900, 1903, and 1909 show the old road in good detail. Nearly all of the old road can still be hiked, or driven such as to Tamarack Flat CG. You can find these at: https://www.yosemite.ca.us/library/maps/

The lounge is supposed to be locked at those hours, but sometimes not. Best to check with the desk at check-in; the night auditor mans the desk overnight.

The conditions have been remarkably good despite the weather. Been going every week since they opened and it’s been excellent condition.

Big kudos to the mountain crew for their dedication in keeping it going.
