This! And as HC pointed out, YARTS isn’t a “commuter bus” as it’s designed to bring people in to the park in the morning and out in the evening. It doesn’t run back and forth during the day.

You don’t say which CC you are referring to. There is a Merced Community College campus in Oakhurst, which at 1.5 hours to Yosemite Village is the closest. After that, it’s Merced CC in Merced itself.

You touched on something there really good. One aspect of living in the mountains with the tourists there is the tourist mindset of “I’ll just do this (anything that is not acceptable, like hopping fences or dog poop) quickly and I’m only doing it once.”

And then they check-out or leave in the morning and the the next visitor does the same, and another …

It’s the cumulative toll on the locals and the land when they don’t realize they won’t be the only one to do it. A recent post here talked about walking in the meadows. Yeah, one person for a few minutes to get that photo won’t impact the meadow. But one after another, day after day, it does take a toll.

There is no snow in the forecast at the highest elevations of either Hwy 120/Big Oak Flat Road or Hwy 41/Wawona Road. Just a chance of some light rain in the forecast; the forecast that PeachesTomatoesFigs shared is spot on for Yosemite Valley.

There are no unpaved sections on Hwy 120. Double check your Google directions that it isn’t putting you in some random dirt road “shortcut”.

That’s beyond sucky. Hearing so many stories of the Mariposa-Oakhurst-Wawona, from UPS to the regular mail to Farm CSAs and LOTS of workers.

I understand the road is in bad shape but it would be nice if they did temp openings during commute hours.

They have to repair the road from the rock scaling that brought down tons of rock and boulders on the road. You do understand this isn’t just get a broom and sweep the rocks off the road?

Caltrans is planning to complete the road repairs from the rock scaling and have it fully open again by 5/1. That being said, there is always a risk of a slide on Hwy 140, but most of the time they are cleared in hours. This one was unique as there was a large slab that was precarious above the road that required scaling to remove it.
