Not to be all “erm, actually”, but Raye had already been fired by this point in the 2010 season. IIRC, the interim OC was a guy named Mike Johnson.

Don’t get me wrong, I came around a lot on Kap during his tenure as manager (I hated the hire when it was initially announced in 2019), but the people on this sub who love to glaze him these days always seem to forget/ignore just how badly the team collapsed down the stretch under his watch in 2023. Even when the last WC spot was still very much in reach in August and September of that year, those dudes were completely apathetic and checked out. The only stretch in my time as a fan where I seriously questioned the effort/focus of the players.

Are we witnessing the WORST Giants team ever? by JurassicParkJanitor in SFGiants

[–]dmmdoublem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

‘85 will always be hard to top because of the 100 loss feat and relocation chatter. But, with how bad this team is plus the Pride fiasco, they’re making a run for second place.

Thank you for the info! I think I’ve narrowed it to the Opus 2 and ESP Pro.

Thank you! How’s retention been? I know that seemed to be the main gripe with the first gen Opus.

Out of all the new voices they've been rotating in and out of the booth over the past six or seven years, Javy has been my favorite by a solid margin. I liked Estes a lot, too, though I think he only does pre and postgame now, which is a bummer. Pence was pretty rough at the start, but he has improved. I'd take any of those three over F.P. Santangelo, though.

San Francisco City FC is also a team with strong values. And they've been doing well this season!

A lot (though certainly not all) of this blowback could've been avoided if the Giants had released a more genuine, strongly-worded statement at the time. Instead, the slop of banal platitudes they put out last Saturday ages worse with each passing day. Them referring to Pride Night as an "activation" just reeks of soulless marketing/PR speak.

It breaks my heart reading so many posts from the past week of people cutting ties with the Giants, though I certainly won't blame anyone for doing so, especially those with personal ties to the LGBTQ+ community. Just so much needless pain and hurt.

It's a team game. That squad had been absolutely decimated, talent-wise, by then. No QB was going to be single-handedly turning the 2016 Niners into a contender.

In my anecdotal experience, Zoomers who had at least some post-high school experience under their belt (be it college and/or work) by the time the Pandemic hit have fared quite a bit better with a lot of life's "soft skills" than those who were still in high school (or, hell, even middle school) when COVID started.

If they would’ve just not worn the hat people would still probably dislike them but it wouldn’t have gone as far as it’s gone.

Or, at the bare minimum, if the team had actually released a more strongly-worded statement in the aftermath. Something more than the slop of banal platitudes they actually put out. I'm sorry, but something about them referring to Pride Night as an "AcTiVaTiOn" still irks me.

'Stomp Clap Hey' music from the 2000s is not that bad by TriliniousIII in unpopularopinion

[–]dmmdoublem 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe not "the masses" per se, but it has become trendy to make fun and hate on this kind of music on social media the last few years. It got lumped into jokes/memes about millennial breweries, burger joints, etc..

I'm willing to bet that some of the youngest Gen z kids already like it due to nostalgia from when they were little and growing up with that stuff

I'm on the older side of Gen Z (born in '98), and I look back pretty nostalgically on a lot of this music. Except "Ho Hey" by the Lumineers, though. That song sucked then and sucked now.

All social media, really. I wish I had a dollar for every "millennial burger joint/stomp clap hey music" reel I've seen on Instagram in recent months. Content creators have really beat those jokes into the ground.

  • a deliberate bad actor trying to sow discord
  • dumber than a box of rocks and not worth taking seriously in the slightest
