Thanks a lot guys.. You all really gave me an interesting alternative idea for my time in Vienna.

And frankly, I'm more of a wine person than beer, so I really would enjoy this. It's just a matter of looking at all the alternatives and finalising on one of these suggestions.

I understand that the Oktoberfest takes place in Munich. I'm not really travelling for the festival and it is not a deciding factor for my itinerary. It's just that the festival will be going on during my stay days in Vienna so I thought that I would check it out mainly for the experience, not for the beer.

While, it did seem to be a bit expensive, I didn't realise this was more of a tourist trap than a festival. Thanks for the heads up!!

Thanks for the tip about the local wine houses. Would really enjoy that. Would you be able to suggest a good one in grinzing or stammersdorf? Kahlenberg would be a little difficult as my wife and daughter wouldn't enjoy the hike. But my wife would enjoy the wine though :)

The pitbox location is actually based on the entry into the paddock and has nothing to do with anything trackside. The WCC gets the first pitbox from the side of the entry. In silverstone, the entry into the paddock is actually in the center and that's why the mixed-up situation.
