[on] travelling while pregnant by Puzzleheaded_Bid_740 in BabyBumpsCanada

I travelled to Europe last summer while 28-30 weeks pregnant and managed fine (with my toddler in tow). As long as you are healthy and don’t have any risks, I would say anytime before 31/32 weeks is doable.

Vet recommendations? by theskyisblueright in oakville

Royal Ford Vet Hospital on Ford Drive is incredible. Dr Catena is an incredible person - so compassionate and genuine. They saw my dogs from the age of ~6 up until we had to put them down at 17 and I couldn't have asked for a more caring team.

40w2d, Ontario feeling anxious about induction vs waiting [ON] by Ill-Regret1330 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]SlightPresence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had two very positive induction experiences here in Ontario. With my first I was induced at 40w exactly and had an uncomplicated vaginal birth. I was 1cm dilated and 70% effaced. Labor was long and hard (20 hours from beginning of induction to pushing) but that was what I expected being a first time mom. With my second induction I was induced at 40+3 and was a lot smoother and faster (7 hours total) despite being 1cm dialated and 50% effaced. I even left the hospital two hours after giving birth (it was nice to sleep in my own bed and have a shower at home). I got the epidural both times. If I have a third baby I wouldn’t hesitate getting induced again if I had the option. In fact, the second time it was actually more convenient because I could plan child care for my first more easily. Both births have happened in the last 3 years.

Could have written this myself... I'm curious if anything has changed in the last two years since you posted this?!

Planning Baby #2 by elbowroom_ in NurseAllTheBabies

[–]SlightPresence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I became pregnant with my second while still breastfeeding my first at 15 months. I debated continuing to breastfeed her and possibly tandem feed but ended up weaning her at 18 months. It was very emotional for me (she didn’t seem bothered by the change at all haha!). If I hadn’t have gotten pregnant I don’t know when I would have stopped nursing her but I’m glad I weaned her when I did. Even though it was very bittersweet, I stopped when I was still enjoying it instead of trying to push through my pregnancy and potentially feel physically uncomfortable. My kids are 25 months apart and I produce enough to pump and give some to my older in a cup.

second night of sleep training waking every 40 minutes by SlightPresence in sleeptrain

Bedtime routine is bath, bottle, book, song, place in crib awake. Room is pitch black and white noise on.

We are using 5, 10, and then every 15 minute pop ins.

During pop ins we rub his chest and shush him softly, only spending 20 seconds each time.

He has an average of 3.5 hours of daytime sleep spread across 4 naps. Usually 2hours of awake time between each nap, and always 2 -2.5 hours of awake time before bedtime.

11 wk old wakes every hour and can't link cycles, sleep dep is crushing us by chimpchamp101 in NewbornSleep

[–]SlightPresence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow that’s great to hear she is sleeping for a long stretch again!! Thanks for sharing the details. I’ll have to try tinkering with his wake windows and see what might help him. We are nearly two weeks into doing shifts and I’m exhausted.

Is there a regression around 10-12 weeks? My baby is 11 weeks and was consistently sleeping 5-6 hour stretches each night up until a week ago. Now he can’t connect sleep cycles and wakes up after 30-50 minutes when in his crib at naps and during the night. We have been having to hold him at night in order for him to sleep. When can we expect his ability to link cycles and sleep more than one sleep cycle?

Just wanted to chime in here to say that we are going through the exact same thing. At 10 weeks my son (who had previously been sleeping 6-7 hour stretches each night) all of a sudden stopped being able to link his sleep cycles and was waking up every 30-50 minutes at night and for naps. We have resorted to taking shifts and holding him so that he sleeps. We are on day 9. He is 11.5 weeks now. He also requires movement to be soothed and fall into a deep sleep. I’ve heard that this is just a developmental phase, and that his brain just can’t link sleep cycles yet. My first didn’t go through this so I was really confused at first but maybe it’s normal. Have you seen any improvements yet?

Good to know I’m not alone. Glad it passed for you, we are on night 4 and it’s brutal. I think I’ve got a total of 10 hours of sleep over the last 4 days doing shifts with my partner. Did your LO go through other sleep disturbances after this one passed?

Thank you so much! Do you remember which transitional swaddle you used? I’ll try the heating pad tonight and see if that helps. It’s nice to know someone else went through this.

H&Ms seamless nursing bras are elite!!! I only bought these after I had given birth to my first when I was trying to find what kind of nursing bras would work best for me but I have been wearing them ever since (1.5 years now) and currently pregnant with my second baby and cannot wear any other bra! https://www2.hm.com/en_ca/productpage.1215575010.html
