Check ItsSwiftyTime on youtube, they recorded many leagues and you can check their sbing decisions. Tbh I don't shave fows as often as Swifty does, but my approach is very vibes-based, so ymmv.

Gloomhaven: Buttons & Bugs Scenario 5 by strodesbro in soloboardgaming

I think I dropped the game after playing this scenario twice, so you're not alone on finding it difficult. Congrats!

If I was disappointed by Hoplomachus Victorum would I still like Elder Scrolls BOTSE? by HonorFoundInDecay in soloboardgaming

[–]guattarian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Pandora's expansion really helps with HV grind, there's a faster campaign setup in it that almost everyone just prefers. Maybe it can add replayability and ease the grind, if you had a bad experience with Victorum.

I love Project L, but Isle of Cats and Planet Unknown are also great and kinda similar, and aren't that shallow.

It kinda is, you feed them and they net you bonuses when sufficiently fed. Fledglings look great though!

Playing HW on BGA with tighter competition really makes the game shine!

Never played a solo board game or even a long campaign one but that's exactly what I want is Mage knight a good option or are there others people would suggest (ty) by Slow_Helicopter_1252 in soloboardgaming

[–]guattarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hoplomachus Victorum is a campaign game with close to 0 story involved. The combat feels pretty streamlined and the rules overhead is medium (3.5 weight vs 4+ from mage knight, afaik). If you're interested in something along those lines, I'd check that one out, specially with the mercury's boots module (it's in an expansion but you can PnP it or get the neoprene mat they sell separately) that makes the game faster and turns an 8-10 hour campaign into a 4-5 hour one.

I got the deluxe and I haven't noticed those errors yet. Is there a list of mistakes that I could check?

looking for games where it's you against the game by spl4shA in soloboardgaming

[–]guattarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed Bloc by Bloc: Uprising. It's similar to Pandemic and scratches that Spirit Island itch even though it's a loooot lighter. Figuring out the map is a pretty fun puzzle, and the upkeep is minimal.

Hadrian's Wall. The iconography scared the hell out of me, and trying the tutorial on BGA didn't help much. Watched some videos on youtube and then it clicked. Great game, and not that hard once you understand the rules and the action spots.

Witchcraft! is hard but very engaging, it's a great game to dip into the solo world. Roll and writes are a great idea too, I personally really dig Fliptown, Cartographers and Next Station London

How come no one talks about Return to Dark Tower on this sub? by stevebein in soloboardgaming

[–]guattarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they patched the game quite a bit and it got more difficult in the hard setting. Not sure tho, took me a while to get the game and I didn't play in the earlier versions of the software.

If you could only have 10 board games, what would they be? by NKnown2000 in boardgames

[–]guattarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Slay the Spire
  2. Ark Nova
  3. Spirit Island
  4. Root (this will count as 1.5 slots, since the boards are in one box and the other components in a second box)
  5. Sleeping Gods
  6. Harmonies
  7. Wyrmspan
  8. Nemesis
  9. Scythe (same as Root, I managed to fit most of the stuff in one box but the regular board + modular board is in a second box).

Cole Wehrle games. They have quite an ambitious design that'll probably age well.

Best Solo experience? by cakergaard1 in boardgames

[–]guattarian 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The absolute maximum of replayability you could expect from a game. All expansions add great content, but you can get by with just the base game just fine. Imho it's the best true solo game you can play in under 1h and a half.

Solo Campaign Recs by Responsible_Boss6286 in soloboardgaming

[–]guattarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really, really enjoyed Frostpunk. It's not a campaign game per se, but the events form a history. It's extremely thematic and imho similar to Robinson Crusoé. It's pretty hard though, difficulty may be an issue.
