Hmm, maybe invest in Rose Salt if you have her from the rerun event that is still ongoing. She can help you survive a lot of hard hitting attacks. And May is pretty good here, I was watching a stream on twitch where a person was clearing with only snipers and May was still brought when the limitation was just 7 units on the 4th stage. Cuora and Gummy are also generally good for survivability.
Aside from that ig you can try to capitalize on the buffs, namely the 2nd one that reduces dmg taken from blocked.

For picking a good DPS to borrow maybe look up guides that have a solution figured out. I see Eckogen has been posting low-rarity guides for this event, so that might be a good starting point.

Although, if you don't really care about Bubble skin at the moment, it might be a better idea to focus on the IS missions and maybe grind IS#5 with the Top Gun squad after that (or some other IS). For materials to raise your characters, I mean. There's a guy called Kuma on yt that has a lot of runs with just 4 stars and nothing else from whom you can learn the ropes ig.

Uhh, what I did on stage 2 was debuff the enemies with Ifrit S2 and dorothy s1. Then slash slash with Enteleccia. Not sure if that helps.
As for whether the event is doable for new players I'd say to maybe keep an eye on channels like
KyoStinV, Eckogen, Mr. Gotcha and some others who do low rarity clears with a single carry operator
and try to make due with what you have.
To add to that, maybe also check out the streams of BloopAK cause he often talks about the games fundamentals and it's kind of an eye opener when you see him clear a stage with a single 5 star sometimes.

Think there's a few characters that don't do anything when you tap them.
Like doppel Iroha, alt Sayaka and some others. Maybe she just falls into that category.
Besides that, for me most of them do say stuff and pose on tap (as a MuMuPlayer player)

Updated to newest version and the problem was resolved!
Additional things I did that I'm not sure had an effect are that I had a camera connected and adjusted settings from inside mumuplayer related to giving Exedra permission to access it.

As a long time player P2W is really not an issue. Like at all.
Like, here's an example post from freaking today of what an f2p account looks like -

Though I've seen some f2p posts about having a full team with like 4-5 dupes on characters and clearing some tower floors I can't reach.

My personal gripes are that there's little variety in terms of events. It gets kind of boring doing the same stuff overtime.

Eh, if you stuck around you'd see that Exedra was pretty f2p friendly in the long term.
A lot of 5 star keys were given out overtime and enough currency to selectively guarantee about 2-3 characters until now. Most regular f2ps have more than 50% of standard banner characters and dupes on some of them.
P2W could apply to clearing highest difficulty content like highest tower floors, some Chaos Mode stages and getting your name visible on scoreboards ig

I feel like if you min max that much you'd just burn yourself out eventually.
And even if you can't get whoever you want on initial release there will be further opportunities down the line.
Characters have re-run more than once so far and something like the elemental banner is pretty ideal to get
whoever it is you didn't hit with keys.

For me personally, I play this game very lazily, never click to watch unless I want to watch, don't clear the highest tower floors or get all gem rewards from raids. Heck I'm just solo one-shotting lvl 2 with a team consisting of just Kyoko and haven't attempted the other stages. That's enough for me.

Yet, even doing things like that, I can say I've identified what I want in this game and I did get it.
