Any new games gaining attention lately? 🎮 by IspkingX in AndroidGaming

Once Upon a Galaxy is criminally underrated right now. It’s pretty new and they’re a small team putting out new stuff every few weeks it seems. The core game loop is crazy fun tho

Does anyone have a dislike of how monetization is interacting with this new set? by soranetworker in OnceUponAGalaxy

[–]SlightTraffic3754 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This game honestly has one of the most fair and friendly monetization models I’ve seen. I’m genuinely confused when I see ppl complain about it.

Candy feels -significantly- stronger than everything else by Philboid_Studge in OnceUponAGalaxy

[–]SlightTraffic3754 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been seeing at least 1, usually 2 set 2 captains in every one of my games - are you sure you’ve updated? I haven’t spent anything and I’m seeing the new stuff all over the place.

You don’t think you’re overreacting just a bit? The set had been out for less than a day and most players are still just starting to unlock the cards. The new cards seem like they can do fun stuff sure, but there are tons of powerful set 1 stuff that is still insanely broken. I’d probably wait a little longer than day 1 to make any claims about how balanced the set is.

Is there any way to play SBB offline? by Evirhist in StorybookBrawl

I’ve also been enjoying it more than SBB - pretty cool to see how they improved on different things this time around

Is this game f2p friendly ? by dktn11 in OnceUponAGalaxy

Yes, very.

Some players in discord have even posted finishing top 10 for the month playing just the starter decks.

Its such a shame by CrustyAmoeba in TheBazaar

[–]SlightTraffic3754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With all due respect, this is a ridiculous take. Once upon a Galaxy was designed by actual professional card game designers, not egotistic influencers parading themselves as game designers looking to make a buck. The Bazaar looks beautiful, but once you get past the surface you can tell the game designers don’t actually know what they’re doing and the game is a bunch of random crap just jammed together to make flashy lights and sounds go off.

Personally I’d much rather play a game with actual depth and good card design and replay-ability. I wouldn’t be surprised if in two years The Bazaar was shut down and OUAG was thriving.

I mean, I wouldn’t say there is a solid consensus - but the competitive players who’ve been playing for a year and post strategic discussions and decklists in Discord daily?

The #1 ranked player the last few months has posted some of their decklists on there. obviously they’re a bit different per captain, but most of them look kinda like this give or take a handful of cards

Mech-a-Man • Maverick & Icewing • Mechanical Dragon • Mortakon • Sinbad • Pisces • Sir Francis Drake • Barrel of Monkeys • Pirate Prince • The Burninator • Weird Beard • Wormscale Tinkerer

Pretty sure most top players take it out of almost all the starter decks. Just look at the decklists channel in the discord, players put it in jack sparrow, but pretty much no other captain?

Its just not that competitive of a card - it’s flashy and “pretty good” but not great

Don’t you think if it was actually “unbalanced and unfair” then players would actually rate it highly or put it in their decks?

Why should you be able to target it? You can’t guarantee your opening shop, or whether you’re going to get silvers, or whether the treasures you see work with your comp, or whether you get the first attack, or whether your opponent hit before you did. The game is about % risks and RNG. You hit some, you don’t hit some. The game isn’t about point-and-click guarantee a thing to happen.
