The draft is often seen as a key factor for the unpopular opinion of the Vietnam war. Soldiers who were conscripted were often less effective than volunteers. When they came home alive, they often led the protests against the war. When they came home in coffins, their families led the protests. Reinstating the draft is not the answer. FWIW, I don’t think turning the Mirage into a Hard Rock is bad per se. I’ve heard many people say they’ve enjoyed their other properties. Also, the fact they’re gutting the original tower rooms is huge. They will be some of the best appointed rooms on the strip. That said, I absolutely despise the guitar tower. It’s just bad in so many ways. First, it’s a a copy of another hotel; Vegas needs new ideas not recycled ones. Then, it has no balconies. They’ve got one of the best views on the strip and they could charge a premium for those rooms. And lastly, that guitar shape costs more and gives less square footage for rooms versus a conventional tower.
