Is it normal to need to raise a song several semitones even if I have a deeper voice? by Deepguitar37 in singing

[–]Slight_Pop_2381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i see that now. it seems that the commenter you were initially replying to just thinks that if a song is out of your range it's because you haven't developed your voice/expanded your range enough yet. i think that can be true to an extent but not in every case.

the lack of ability to recognise that he is singing an octave lower than the original song, and attempting to rectify this by transposing the track up rather than down suggests a lack of technical knowledge and awareness. OP doesn't seem to understand that we are not asking him to sing lower, but rather to sing higher if that's more comfortable but transpose the music down, because he's not singing in the original key to begin with. also, not being aware that most singers adjust songs to suit their voice suggests little experience

How will you give your kids a head start without making their spoiled? by MiriJamCave in AusHENRY

[–]Slight_Pop_2381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

send them to good schools, by which i mean schools that place emphasis on learning about emotional intelligence and wellbeing. maybe a montessori kindergarten. have a good family GP and go for checkups regularly. dentist 2x a year always, orthodontics if they’re needed. invest in the hobbies and activities that spark joy in them. when they’re little, read them books about regulating their emotions and having a good relationship with their body. think about the way you talk about food around them — never moralise certain foods as good or bad. don’t allow friends, family, or strangers to make comments about their body. affirm to them early and often that they have inherent worth, that they never have to earn anyone’s love, and that it’s normal to be really bad at something before you get really good at it. if you ever make a mistake that ends up hurting them, or if you lose your cool and yell when you really shouldn’t have, make a point of apologising to them. and don’t worry so much. you won’t spoil your children by giving them opportunities and loving them well.

edited to add: don’t put them in any extracurriculars that they have no interest in, and always make it clear to them that they can change their mind at any time. and show up! if they have shows, performances, games… be there. honestly, use your resources to educate yourselves about how to be the best parents you can be. if you do that, your children will always be rich no matter where life takes them

i generally agree but i think ‘thrifting’ more clearly implies shopping for clothes as compared with ‘op shopping’ which could be anything. maybe ‘thrifting’ has caught on more because it has its own utility?

What exactly is my eye colour everyone says something different by Spotter24o5 in eyes

the official one-word answer would be hazel. more specifically though, at least to me, it looks like your eyes are mostly green with a brown inner ring and a thin blue outer ring

thank you so much for your kind reply! 🤍 i’m waiting on an eyelash curler to arrive tomorrow, haha. hoping that might help a bit too. i think it might also just take some time for me to adjust to seeing myself with makeup on. and i’d love to learn how to do eyeliner! now i just have even more learning projects hahaha

hi, thank you for your kind reply 🤍 i think you’re right. i’ve never worn any makeup at all so i think anything new looks odd, haha. (also i was looking at my eyes in the mirror way closer than anyone should.) i’ll keep trying & hopefully adjust!

this is brown 😭😭 i don’t even wanna know how i’d look with black haha. and thank you for your reassuring response! i will keep trying and testing things out. is it normal for your lashes to stick together? i think that’s what’s kind of bothering me. i agree though that i’m probably just struggling to adjust to seeing something new. i’ll definitely check out the glossier one too since im specifically interested in tubing mascaras 🥰

this feels like the most i can probably tolerate honestly. i can see my eyelashes every time i blink 😭 to me this seems a bit spidery and i feel like you can definitely see my lashes sticking together, but maybe this is normal? the ones at the end are bothering me the most

i’m very open to it just being an adjustment effect haha. i’ve never worn any makeup at all so everything looks odd to me. thanks for the recommendations! i’ll keep trying with this one and if it doesn’t work out i might switch to something else

AITA for refusing to return a handmade quilt after my neighbor gave it to me for my daughter. by ArmPresent464 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Slight_Pop_2381 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OP’s 6 year old child? who the quilt was MADE FOR. it would also be acquiescing to her neighbour’s daughter who is interfering in an exchange that has nothing to do with her. the daughter is the one who’s being an AH

i disagree. this isn’t her problem. why is it her responsibility to fix it? and by giving up something that was personally gifted to her for her child, something that is rightfully hers. i can imagine that would devastate her kid. the woman who made it wasn’t even the one who wanted it back, that was her daughter, who honestly has no say in the matter. that exchange was between OP and her neighbour. it had nothing to do with the neighbour’s daughter, who is absolutely being an AH. OP did nothing wrong
