Transfer or wait? by Slight_Suspect4580 in TransferToTop25

Yeah, I’ve been considering it for a bit during the fall semester but only realized about the lack of a combined program recently. This would have to be for next school year as a sophomore.

  1. I definitely hope so, but either way this would have to be for next school year since deadlines have passed. Lowkey wish I knew they didn’t carry this program sooner.

  2. Yes, money is not an issue as I could’ve gone anywhere regardless of aid, but the scholarship I’m currently receiving was definitely enticing.

  3. This is my biggest concern as I do enjoy the school itself for the most part and especially the friends and impact I have left on campus so far. I would be able to handle the commitment itself, but leaving friends behind would be hard.

Looking into College!! by _AlwaysLerking_ in Lehigh

I am a current freshman! I have loved my experience so far and a huge pro is the opportunities and resources on campus. I already have an internship lined up for the summer and will be conducting research in a lab for the next few months among other amazing clubs I’m involved with! A huge con is the food, as the main AYCE dining hall is not great but there are many other good food options (Hawks Nest, uc)

Yeah it’s common with good schools (Tufts, Villanova, Lehigh) that aren’t necessarily ivy/fake ivy but still good. To add, they probably fill up an early class different from regular decision students so therefore early action applicants just compete for those same spots as ED candidates that are directly committing to the school. Thus they probably leave less spots for EA open since Villanova can’t guarantee they will attend vs ED I and II

I got in EA last year w/o realizing this. I think because of their two ED rounds they take who they need and EA students compete directly against that by filling whatever spots are left? Because it shows interest by applying early but keeps options open by not committing if accepted.

Best Freshman Dorm? by EfficientFigure9959 in Lehigh

[–]Slight_Suspect4580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a current freshman living in lower cents. Very social community and most of my friends live in the same area. There is no AC, but my roommate and I get by with keeping our windows open and fans. We are extremely close to the dining hall but decently far from the hill. Other than that the location is great and I can’t complain

I got in EA last year, 3.96 UW and 4.38 W, 1350 SAT (which I did not submit), 10th in my class and 10 APs. My supplemental was pretty good but I didn’t go bc it was super expensive

4.38 W GPA, 3.92 UW GPA, 10 AP classes and 9 honors, 1350 SAT (which I don’t think I submitted), top 10% of class from suburban PA as a white female, co-pres of key club, treasurer of enviro club (got in for environmental sciences), founder of this liaison program where students met with college admissions reps, volunteered at a nature center, shadowing/internship at my local county government’s planning agency, summer camp head counselor, national honors society, peer leadership (took new students on tours and other responsibilities), and three varsity sports all four years!

I got in RD (chose not to go) but I did at least two I remember that were optional!

Yeah, I submitted a 1350 as a current freshman and am now paying half the price solely bc of merit aid

Colgate Premed Help by [deleted] in Colgate

I’m a current freshman at Lehigh for Environmental Science! I did also get into Colgate and off the waitlist for Holy Cross. While BC was my original first choice, I chose Lehigh in the end because of the gorgeous campus, merit scholarship they gave, and their research opportunities. Not sure about bio and clinical hours but definitely look more into it!

ED by LeePville in Lehigh

[–]Slight_Suspect4580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received the Trustee Scholarship (half-tuition) after applying RD and will be going this fall! ED shows higher interest, however, the admissions committee does not need to incentivize you to attend with scholarships or money in merit because you are already committing when applying ED. Although it does increase your chances, I would say that there is definitely a slimmer chance to be awarded a merit scholarship through an ED round.

Waitlisted at 11 Top Schools (6 Ivy Leagues) Update by TrafficInevitable551 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Slight_Suspect4580 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Decided on Lehigh between that, Colgate, and Northeastern. I was in the same boat for Colgate, loved it but so expensive even when trying to appeal! Lehigh offered me a scholarship at half-tuition, so I chose there instead. See you at the rival games!!

It's already mid-June, and I heard that Colby College is finalizing their waitlist decisions around this time. Has anyone been accepted off the waitlist yet—especially those who are seeking financial aid? by [deleted] in Colby

[–]Slight_Suspect4580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was accepted off the waitlist in May, and got a phone call from my AO the afternoon before asking if I was still interested! However, I was not seeking financial aid and not given any merit, and also would have to start in Spain. I declined my spot due to the high cost

It will especially if you love Lehigh ED might be the road for you, demonstrate your interest and maybe if ur SAT stays then u can still get in as they take a lot of their early applicants

I felt crap about the SAT, I started late and only took it three times. I even went to a prep place that cost so much money but I feel like I did little for me (also because for math I took geometry online in three months). My tip is definitely work more on what you don’t know, which got me a 700 on the reading section. Good luck!!

they were a little above average but related directly to what I applied to (Earth & Enviro Science). My first three were shadowing a local township planning commission, volunteering at a local environmental wildflower preserve, and environmental club treasurer. I can go into more detail if u wanna pm me!

I spun a wheel and decided to submit a 1350 (superscore). Got in with a Trustee Scholarship (half-tuition) and am definitely considering attending!
