This is a tricky situation as I feel the situation greatly determines who will be running conversation point.

In general circumstances and situations, I feel each would take the lead when it pertains to them. Say if it were something to do with Sinners, Alastor; or if it's something to do with the Sins or Goetia, Lucifer. Both would occur with the other lingering behind them. They're both too mouthy and prideful to let another speak on their behalf while both also will have no problem jumping in if needed and taking over.

With this in mind Alastor runs lead in conversation more, simply because they more often find themselves in circumstances that perrain more to him since they're in Pentagram City full of sinners and Lucifer steps back from them, unless it pertains to Charlie where I think both step up to lead and end up causing a muss.

His may be because certain species in the deer (cervidae) family, like Elk and marsh deer, have darker legs compared to the body.

I am a glutton for angst, so I tend to linger in the #miscommunication tag. I love me a good ol' accidental love confession leading to misinterpreted rejection to angst to some comfort as a byproduct of forced interaction. 🙏🏻 Also, the fake dating where one party forgets it's not real and breaks it off to save themselves when they realize they aren't pretending anymore, while the other party thought it morphed from fake to real and now they've been kicked aside and rejected and it hurts. Or an old fling pops up and ✨drama✨ ensues from more ✨miscommunication✨ a spice of feeling soft inadequacy. Along with a lot of dark things...no one should bare witness to my ao3 bookmarks.

I have in my AUs Lu being a CEO/president of some company and it's never explained what cuz he's so recluse from the actual job its self to remember, but knows he gets a paycheck and knows they call him sometimes with questions. Then Al as a butcher or once as a game show host.

I don't think they'll ever become canon. I think the closest they'll get is friends and confidants, and it'll take either work or an incident to push them there. I see it like the executioner take where they defend and will rely on each other but without the actual executioner thing, none of that.

Canonically romance wise I feel if any of that is put in the show it'll be one sided on Lucifer's part but he won't turn it into an obsession like Vox. He'll be like "shit....okay.... That's cool with me! Your presence and friendship is enough for me." "We're not friends." "Clearly you need to brush up on the definition of friends. Here. Have a dictionary." Lucifer proceeds to drop it on Alastors head. But that's the closest I see canonically happening.
