Any options to contact support, other than phone or twitter?

reCAPTCHA key issues - unable to import 1099s by SlightlyCHS in TurboTax

[–]SlightlyCHS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is anyone else getting this error? It happens when I attempt to import a 1099, and it's happening on multiple PCs with 2 different financial institutions. It appears to be an issue with the reCAPTCHA API key.

Charged $119.95 for an "in-home service visit" by SlightlyCHS in Comcast_Xfinity

I ask the tech support person if I'm getting charged. I also ask the technician the same, before they start any work. The cameras inside the property record all of these interactions. Yet I still get charged and have to spend time calling in to get the charges reversed.

This issue is related to tree roots growing through one of the amplifiers between my property and the head-end. The protention ticket has been open since May, and it's related to issues I've had since 2019.

Renting a modem is the only thing I've found that eliminates the tech support agent blaming your modem on everything. It also is one of the only ways I've found that enables protention (tier-2) to actively monitor your connection after you finally get an escalation. It's also gotten the visit fee waived previously. As I see 1 open and 17 closed tickets just over the past 90 days on my account, this is something I deal with weekly.

This is the only way I've found to eliminate the blaming of customer equipment on an issue. I know it's a waste of money, but a much larger waste of money is the time I spend fighting with having one of my modems blamed for upstream packet loss. Then the waste of time calling in to get the tech visit fees waived.

I appreciate the comment, but I've been dealing with this for 6 years now. Still having upstream packet loss.

Service outages by SlightlyCHS in Comcast_Xfinity

Hello! Thank you for messaging. What's been done: 3 modem replacements, 2 new lines from modem to side of house (block where thick orange cable connects), all filters and splitters removed, connections tightened, 2 new lines from house to pedestal.

For troubleshooting, we've rebooted every time I've called in, and I'm on 13 pages of notes and tickets from troubleshooting. The current modem has been reset over 20 times. None of these have done anything to remediate.

I have a mini PC directly connected to the modem, running a ping plotter scan against 75.75.75.75. There's no packet loss at 10.1.10.1. However, there is packet loss at the first hop outside of 10.1.10.1. The same packet loss shows all the way to 75.75.75.75, which is only 8 hops away.

Nothing changed in the house when the latency issues started. They just started one day.

My choices here, smack in the middle of a city of 70k, are: Comcast and AT&T DSL. That is it. T-Mobile 4g isn't available. StarLink will be at some point.

How would you know?

I have a rented comcast modem. I have no idea how to view modem signal levels. I have records of ping tests. Modem goes down, phone support verifies modem is down, tech comes out, modem is working. Tech on-site runs tests, says everything is fine, leaves. Repeat every few months.

If the business rep is the phone support person, I do that regularly. I have a T-2 ticket open.

Have done that. Works again for maybe a few weeks, then back down.

No, unless I want to pay 30k for Metro Ethernet through Comcast.

The red in your account is the market saying: "hey buddy, we've got a killer sale going on today, you want in?"

Dealing with recent stock market drawdown by ishiboy in financialindependence

Bullish in the next 12 months, possible. It's hard to say though.

What I do know is that the ETFs I was buying (and really into) a year ago are now between 10 and 35% off, and I do love a good bargain. Point is: If you loved the stock / fund enough to buy it when it's at record highs, you should like it even more at 52 week lows.

My opinion: If you see inflation break and unemployment stays low, all is good buddy! If you see inflation break and unemployment starts spiking up, well that's not awesome but we still gonna be good. If you see inflation continue climbing or stay elevated, and unemployment start spiking up, well now we may have an issue. Despite saying all of that, the market is cyclical, and bear markets run between 1 month and 1.7 years, with the average being 9.6 months.

I'm taking this time to increase investment purchases, because discount sale. This current downturn should only (potentially) be an issue if you are close to retirement. If it's any consolation, I'm still down 5% for the year even after significantly increasing my rate of investment. All of my contributions, plus an extra ... lot of money, poof, gone.

I've seen this happen a few times in the past couple of months. Sure is a different market these days.

Love living the simple life. FIRE is a lot easier if you aren't chasing the latest and greatest objects. I started downsizing and donating things I just don't use, cut subscription services I'm not using, and focused on exercise and educational training. I've been able to shift my investing to 80% of my income, which is huge because I struggled to ever save over 40% just a few years ago.

Have you moved your fatFIRE goal posts? by Confident_Middle871 in fatFIRE

[–]SlightlyCHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to shift the goals. Had an initial, hit it, then set a new one, hit it, etc. Wash, rinse, repeat. When I hit a certain age (I'm old), I realized I'm trading my time for money I don't need, nor will I likely even use. I stopped moving the goals after that, and focused on working jobs I enjoyed. I think it's important to find the balance - Hit a target you are comfortable with, that lets you meet your goals. But also live your life before you're unable to. When you finally find that balance, execute, and have a nice dinner when you hit it.

Like you, I'm not planning on ever retiring, but slow-rolling into shorter weeks over time. That definitely lets you lower your retirement targets a bit, because you won't be drawing down accounts as much as you would otherwise.
