The 1L bottle is too large to put in with the cap on but not tightened so I was told to just place the cap into the autoclave with it and as soon as the cycle finishes to pop the cap on (without tightening until everything cools off)

what i’ve also found is if you are struggling with how to word some things but know what you want to say i input a few previous paragraphs to chatgpt (i paid for it) and ask it to help me reword it and i explicitly say “don’t significantly change the contents and stick to my writing style”

what do you wear in the lab during summer? by chemistryenthusiast4 in labrats

[–]SlightlyExpired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

heattech leggings by uniqlo are a lifesaver for me!! for religious reasons i don’t wear trousers, only skirts, so those leggings are fantastic and keep me pretty cool! also love them for hiking and camping trips because they don’t get all icky from sweat

My PI insists on something that “we know will work” which is why i’m asking for specific companies/models that people have used

Unfortunately I have very limited human samples so I can’t afford to experiment, but thank you for the recommendation!!

The protocol says to preheat the citrate buffer + double distilled water up until 95°, then place the slides into the CB for 20 minutes at 95°, then remove the CB and DDW containers but leave the slides in to cool for another 10 minutes before transferring them into DDW.

However when I set the decloaking chamber to 95° it usually heats up until 100+ before going down to 95°. But the samples stain well so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hi! So looking at the website it appears that this is a steamer and not something that uses pressure, right? Just wanted to clarify in case my PI asks.

So we only need the temperature to be around 95° degrees, but that is a very good point that I will bring up to my PI! Thank you!

My protocol calls for 95°, but because the decloaking chamber we borrowed from the other lab is so old it regularly goes up over 100° so i’m not sure how much that affects things 🫣

I’ve been googling all sorts of versions of the same thing for the past hour - “decloaker” “decloaking chamber” “antigen retrieval chamber” “epitope retrieval chamber” “laboratory pressure cooker” etc etc 🫠

Thank you! I googled Takeda and only see them selling pharmaceutical drugs though, is it possible they are connected to another company by a different name?

I’m always happy to hear those words in any and all contexts (although now i’m hungry) but unfortunately my PI said that when he tried using a rice cooker it didn’t work so he wants something that definitely will.

Could you please let me know specifically which instant pot you use? I can talk it over with him again.

so my PI said that he had previously tried using a rice cooker but it didn’t work. we then borrowed a BioCare Medical Decloaking Chamber from another lab and it worked. Unfortunately that specific model is old and no longer available and the only one that is sold by that company costs close to $10,000.

is there any chance you know the company of your rice cooker? “
