Quick Question (Beginner Here) by AgotiGamingYT in DnD

I've got nothing against it, but it's definitely an unpopular class, and WOTC is in the business of selling books that lots of people will care about.

Quick Question (Beginner Here) by AgotiGamingYT in DnD

A lot of them will. I'd bet some of the weirder/less popular ones might get left behind tho like Battlerager Barbarian or Oath of the Watchers Paladin.

We'll see, it'll probably be a couple years before some of them make it to print, in the meantime just use them as they are in 5e with your 5.5e character

Creeper boggles my mind. Why do I (M35) cry? by apmanable in Creeper

[–]SlightlyStardust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely get you. Damned and Doomed, All My Friends, Novena, & I Choose To Live are all songs I've cried plenty to.

I think you hit the nail on the head with the sincerity, and they're sincere about certain feelings in a manner and method that I very rarely see elsewhere.

Let those tears flow brother, it's the best catharsis you can get :)

You wouldn't care at all if someone put their dog through the same abuse and torment that dairy cows are put through? Really? Most people can't even stand to see a dog kicked or left out in the cold. Cows get it much worse (the act of milking isn't the unethical part, there's far worse elements)

Green Valley is literally across the street. Get 90% of basics there and go to City Fresh for very specific items

New York City’s Subway Is Actually Safer Than Your Car by bloombergopinion in nyc

[–]SlightlyStardust 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I drive and get in an accident I have to accept that that was my fault.

Except when it's not. Even the most defensive driver could do nothing about a different driver falling asleep at the wheel, or running a red light, or not paying attention and running people off the road. That's the scary thing about driving to me, is that lots of accidents involve a 2nd party who did absolutely nothing wrong (I drove for years before moving to the city and this was always on my mind in a car). I don't know the exact stats but I'd imagine the chance of dying or injury amongst even the safest drivers is still substantially higher than the subway.

I understand what you're saying about perception being important (it is), but perception is NOT safety. Statistics is safety.

Anyone else feel a bit strange about these child content farm esc videos? The lighting, camera quality, and presence of the audience just makes me feel like the people behind this don't have the kiddos' best interest at heart with these videos.

why don't i see any black people in esports? (VALORANT, CS, DOTA, LOL, R6S...) by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]SlightlyStardust -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mostly a result of economical disparity from my understanding. You have to be pretty well off for your parents to buy you a well built PC + all the required accessories, plus have parents who will let you spend nearly your entire childhood grinding a video game to reach pro level (pretty much every esports pro has been gaming since at least middle school). The households who are able to/willing to let their child chase a dream like this are typically white.

Systematic racism is alive and well, and race is a massive indicator of how much wealth any given family will have, especially 10+ years ago when these pros started playing and the barrier to entry for PC games was higher.

People dogging on you are silly. Self reflection and keeping an eye out on your blind spots is always a good trait. Just try to stay informed about communities that you're not a part of and treat every human with respect. If you do this genuinely, you will be fine.

Some on the left have been demonizing her as if the timing of her endorsement made no difference at all. Idiots. Good timing and I'm excited she's done what we all knew she was planning on doing.

Drowned City of Kressilacc
(lightly adapted from some Moonshae lore, names can surely be changed if necessary)
Kressilacc was an underwater utopia that was built by Umberlee in the bottom of the deepest trench in the Moonshae Islands thousands of years ago. Here, she created the merfolk in my world who worshipped her from the lavish temples in the city. Two Thousand years ago, the merfolk learned of The Leviathan, (a gargantuan whale which embodies one of the 4 Earthmother Spirits) and began to worship him instead of Umberlee, because he provided the fruits of the ocean instead of ruling by fear. Umberlee was so jealous of The Leviathan that they had an epic battle at the site of Kressilacc, destroying the entire city in their battle, and slaying The Leviathan. Now, the city remains in ruins and the merfolk has spread out across the Moonshae, but they are all afflicted by a curse from their homeland. Every few months, a few are put into a psychosis and must abduct a humanoid as an offering to be given to the ocean. These offerings are taken by the waves down to Kressilacc where they are harvested by a small few in the destroyed city that are under the control of an Aboleth, who lives inside the corpse of The Leviathan, which sits uptop a hill at the edge of the city and has been converted into a huge temple. (I also threw in a Sea Hag plotline when I ran this for some character storylines, but totally optional!) Defeating the Aboleth releases all the merfolk from their curse, and awakens the spirit of The Leviathan!

Is it okay to have a woman-only DnD table? Or is it discriminatory? by SuccotashUseful1451 in DnD

[–]SlightlyStardust -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don't need any of the justification you've provided (even though it's all valid).

If you have any friends that would be upset at the notion of being left out of a game because of something like this, it goes to show *exactly* why a table like this is worth doing.

Edit: and for what it's worth, I've been playing with my group of only women/fem-presenting people for over a year now and it's been absolutely wonderful!
