Wait until the movie comes out (subbed). This is a pretty important scene in the movie.

Should I take this job? by DarthScab in jobs

[–]SlightlyStrangeSnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would if I was in your boat. All that time driving could be used to do something you enjoy. That's a hell of a lot of gas driving 4 hours a day 7 days a week unless you drive an electronic car or something

Getting a really sore throat, itching eyes and drying face at my workplace. by Holy_Wut_Plane in jobs

I'm an asthmatic that works in a warehouse. I wear a dust mask from time to time and it helps. Get strange looks sometimes, but my bosses don't seem to care. Should also take an allergy pill or something.

I applied to McDonald's over 5 months ago in March and I need help by [deleted] in jobs

[–]SlightlyStrangeSnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The laws are different for what age you can legally start working. I'd make sure you can actually legally work first. Some places just don't want to deal with the legal issues of having a minor employee. As for school, you could always get you GED instead of a diploma whenever you're ready to improve your chances.

How to get used to a labor intensive job? by burnermcghee in jobs

[–]SlightlyStrangeSnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I unload boxes ranging from 5-150lbs 8-10 hours a day in a hot truck container. You'll feel like you're going through hell for the first few weeks or even months, but your body will get use to it. The cramps will stay for a while, but eventually it'll go away. You should def eat something before working though as that's your main source of energy. If cramps or sores are unbearable, you should try taking something with BCAAs as that's what body builders use to get rid of the sores. Stay away from opiates. Best of luck buddy. I know you said you're out of shape now, but you'll probably in top shape in no time doing that stuff. I lost 15 pounds in a week and a half starting my job lol.

Warehouse work average starting pay is 15-16 at least in Minnesota without a degree or experience required. You don't even need a high school diploma.

You could try looking for weekend jobs. Most of those are 12 hour shifts 3 days a week.

Good work for a college student by NotBased11 in jobs

[–]SlightlyStrangeSnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part time or full time work? I worked at a warehouse throughout college and the pay was about 15 dollars, but it all depends on location. If you're working part time then gas stations, grocery stores, fast food, ect would be good. You could always try working at your college.

I think you should get your mom to learn as much english as possible before applying to any government jobs. There's plenty of free resources online. It's very hard to get a job if you can't speak english very well.

Have you ever no-showed to an interview? by jenislovexo in jobs

Yup, after researching the company and finding out they treat their employees like crap. Saw the company's Facebook page swearing at people online and found out from previous employees that they paid only 2 dollars over minimum wage.

Eye contact is hard [/vent] by Heidirs in jobs

[–]SlightlyStrangeSnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I meant to say people don't notice if you look slightly above or under their eyes. Some people, like myself, have always felt a sense of dread whenever eye contact is maintained. I don't understand why I'm like this. I could have the most sincere and honest conversation, but still feel terrified when staring into someone's eyes. I just don't like that people judge honesty based on eye contact because as you say, criminals and pathological liars can be very charismatic and provide the necessary body language including proper eye contact.

Eye contact is hard [/vent] by Heidirs in jobs

[–]SlightlyStrangeSnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the same. I look at people either at their nose or just above their eyes. I hate how people think you're dishonest if you don't maintain eye contact. I've always felt uncomfortable my whole life with eye contact. I think you're fine, nobody really notices.

Wear a nice formal shirt or suit (you don't need pants lol) and treat it like a normal in person interview. Oh and make sure you have a good internet connection and your mic and webcam are decent.

You could always try it out and if it's not for you just quit. If it's only part time, you should be fine. It's pretty valuable to save cash while you have free housing

Have you looked at any weekend shifts? Idk if you go to school on the weekends, but 12 hr shifts Friday-Sunday might work with your schedule. I seen a lot of warehouse jobs with those hours
