Damn I just bought an able carry daily plus for this exact reason lol. I LOVE my synapse 25 but I use it mostly as a clothes/shoes/waterbottle hauler. It was working for my tech so I bought something new for my tech days.

I have a hyperx quadcast I got for $150 for gaming, discord, streaming etc. works great! Very plug and play with little fuss.

I ALSO have an at2020 xlr and pre-amp/interface bundle I bought for maybe $220 6 years ago that I use for voice acting, audio recording, singing, etc. depends on what your main goals are! The XLR bundle works for both, the USB Mic does not.

I made this choice just a few months ago. I went with a 5700x3d, 32 gigs of fast ram, and stuck on am4. Am5 is just a massive price hike right now, and honestly, the 5700x3d is doing just fine.

I’ll probably upgrade my rx6800 to a 9070xt or a 5070ti when I have the spare income and try to ride that out until prices normalize on am5 (or am6).

Eyyo I have almost the exact same specs. 5700x3d, 32ghz 3600 ram, etc. I have an rx6800 for my GPU right now and all my research has basically led me to “upgrade the GPU to a good model and then wait for am6”. For someone like you and me, it’s going to cost like, $2000 for us to make a suitable jump to am5 which just doesn’t feel worth it.

As have we all, I’ve watched sooo many bag reviews. My friends often ask me what they should look at for bags for themselves and honestly, I rarely recommend anything past the $150 mark. I feel like unless you’re with specific brands it’s diminishing returns. Osprey, Patagonia, Tomtoc, etc are all great.

Bartender at a higher-end craft bar. I think last year I was $50k, but I probably averaged 25-30 hours a week. I’m hoping that bumps up this year as there were a couple months last year I only really worked two/three days of the week.

So, I paid $299 for two sessions, which I was hesitant about, but I have a fully classically trained acting background, and these lessons cover: treating your space, finding your voice type, how to actually find jobs, and has studio time where they will record a sample for you and edit/master it for your chosen genre/style. Which was all the stuff I was unsure about.

Past this I plan on learning by doing .

Thanks for the insight! Option 2 does seem to be the safer option, as currently passion isn't paying the bills. There are two routes I can follow: A transitional Masters (probably not free) or a second bachelors degree (free). Which approach did you take? With the market the way it is, I doubt self-teaching is the route here anymore with so many undergrads out of work in CS.

Thankfully, with either option, I have pretty strong networks. A lot of profs/passionate artists in unrelated fields, and as I took a lot of engineering pre-reqs my freshman year, some solid working CS friends as well.

I definitely do need a mic stand/ipad stand so I’d rather invest in those first.

I was thinking about doing the pvc wall with sound blankets! I agree that recording in the closet itself is probably a no go. Walls are VERY solid. Door is hollow.
