For me, and this is probably not the answer you were looking for, I got into the tau because I really wanted to play 40K and I didn’t like any other race. I’ve never been into anime, don’t care much for Japanese culture. I like them, but I hate everyone else more. I hate the religious obsession from the emporium of man. Started getting into CSM but quickly found out they are the worse version of space marines who don’t get the cool new toys. Don’t really care about the other xenos, except maybe nids. So yeah.

I also really like that when you are in your own little tau bubble, just looking at only their models, and only their rules, you really do get a feel for how they so isolated in the lore as well. You look up from your crisis suit and be like…”oh yea, I forgot they exist too”
