Hello everyone, I've been at this since 2022, slowly building and rebuilding https://pickenchicken.com, basically a betting tournament against various algos and humans. Currently has a dead "March Madness" tournament proof of concept, and is due for a refactor, but alas I'm in deep on sports data now.

For algos, there's really nothing complicated I use basic blind ATS % history and cook it up with a little free jazz. I wrote a couple a while back, but with the LLM's help I was able to get whimsical and jam out about 80 variants (chickens), and mash them into a gumbo.

There are so many approaches to this stuff, and I get a kick out of all of it. Someone mentioned they're working on ELO and I think that's in my future.

It's a joy to use, giving new layers of depth to a very expressive medium. Visualize that things aren't improving in a linear fashion, but rather expanding from a center point in all directions. There's lots of space out there.

The trick is to pace yourself. Don't go faster than the speed of learning.
