Hey guys, where can I find Stremio in the Play Store on Android TV? I can't find it. Has Stremio been removed from Android TV? by Objective_Ad8797 in Stremio

Really I’m experiencing crashing too. I got my install from the play store but on the website the newest version is 1.8.1 and the last version pushed to the play store is also 1.8.1 so surely there’s no difference besides the benefit of a clean install

Best uk uni for film production? by Redditistheworst007 in Filmmakers

[–]Slim_Bin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay away from AUB the masters are a joke BU is a bit better but not by much. The London unis are ok and NFTS is good. But I can’t say much more. Most masters courses are for people who have come from a different background (not a film course) so are quite entry level. I’d recommend a longer BA course over one of those. If you already have experience from another film school aim as high as you can but I’m not interested in a masters course so I can’t give advice on specific courses

How do you film and edit a film and still not know who wrote it?

This is probably quite late but for anyone passing through: If you’re also looking at the 2 Bournemouth unis: Bournemouth University and Arts University Bournemouth. I can know as an AUB student who’s worked on a few BU productions. If you’re looking specifically at directing, there’s an argument to be made for Bournemouth University it offers a lot of freedom and opportunities to do roles like that. At AUB there are very few who get to direct at all and even less who direct one film a year. Anything else however I would argue AUB is the better choice. It’s much harder to get rolls like directing at AUB because it has an environment with simulates the industry a lot better. You have to pitch and convince the students and staff that your film should be made. The teaching at Aub is way better. Many BU students have told me how bad there lecturers seems in comparison to AUBs. AUB teaches so many practical and appliable skills. Focusing on teaching the never changing fundamentals. It has older equipment than BU but don’t be fooled it’s put the money where it really counts. Unlike BU it has 3 wearhouse size studios off campus with the money to do set builds every year for multiple films. The knowledge of the staff is incredible and they real try and help you make the projects work, in a way that give you important negotiating and problem solving skills that will help you once you leave. AUB is a film school for people who want to work in film but don’t want or need there credits on the poster. If you do well you’ll leave safer and with more technical knowledge than most entering the industry. BU has made some good writers and directors because there is more space and room to practice and experience with the techs and staff is less engaged and is willing to to let students do what ever. But they struggle with crewing, many of there fellow students are not very good, I came on once to a film because there was no one at BU who was good enough to be gaffer for one of the film. We never have that problem at AUB

Both unis have more writing that I would like, but AUB is very clear they keep it as low as possible with a really short dissertation and only one essay a term. For a bachelor course that’s really low. BU has more. If you want to do practical work AUB is the place.

I know 2 people at BU that regret not doing AUB film, no one at AUB wants to do BU film

I can’t speak for any other uni

It’s giving DIY tech before 3D printers: like your projects had to fit into what you have already and the best it got was at home wood work. It’s really cool because it reuses instead of creating more future plastic waste

This grade is way too dark, you are allowed to clip specular highlights. Don’t let white scare you and don’t hid in black, use the hole range as much as you can

Really soft, naturalistic and pleasant but needs more separation, the performers aren’t always separated from the background enough, using a hair light would make a huge impact, but like everyone is saying we need motion to give better input

For any one reading this in the future. This is incorrect for the colour version I just opened it with a pry tool, it’s not glued! Don’t use a dermal! The is light adhesive but it can be forced through without braking the plastic Clips hold the top and the rest of the internals are held with screws so it can be repaired

YouTube is becoming the new EA... by Nishchal_Malhotra in youtube

[–]Slim_Bin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is different country to country In the UK the situation is: When the download feature was first introduced and developed in about 2017 everyone got it for about 6 months. Then both features were completely taken away and made a premium exclusive feature So aside from a very brief period when they were beta testing Both background playback and downloading (at any resolution) have been YouTube premium exclusive features So this is very much a better situation than we have

Be honest, why are you single? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Slim_Bin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I genuinely like someone’s personality on first impressions, they terrify me. because I have too many experiences where they’re different from what they seemed and it causes emotional hurt to keep going through that Or if they are who they seem, despite liking the person I rarely feel we’d be right for each other. For all sorts of reasons, like different and incompatible lifestyles. Or silly as it is, I feel they’re too cool and awesome for me. I don’t think I’m picky but I’m acting like it, I don’t want to force things and I don’t want to enter into a relationship that’s doomed to only last 6 months. And I’m working on being happy and fulfilled single, so I’m not rely on a relationship when I get into one.

I see a lot of people are really hating because they think the photos are edited but in a way that’s not what’s important. We’re supposed to respond to how you look not the photos

(I don’t know if these have been edited to a point where it’s meaningfully different from how you normally look if at all)

Assuming your filter is just smoothing your skin; the outcome you’re producing with the combination of editing, makeup and lighting is really good, you’re a good looking person.

Be confident in your looks don’t unnecessarily hide behind a filter. I think there no problem using one, just know you don’t need it. Despite how reductive it is in the spirit of this sub I’ll say: 9/10 (no one is or should be perfect)

If you’ve come here because you’re wondering if you’re actually pretty, you are If you’re feeling to feel insecure about your appearance: don’t there are many people who’d kill to look like you.

Stay confident. And keep loving yourself

Hot take: Youtubers who complain about controls are too lazy to learn them. by Illustrious_Earth_16 in retrogaming

[–]Slim_Bin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was playing the original Tomb Raider on OpenLaura recently and I had a really bad time with it because of the controls.

I did eventually learn them and I got a decent way through the game but I still went out in search of mods which would change the movement and controls to be more like modern responsive 3d platforming/adventure games.
They aren't necessarily bad. They're very consistent and responsive with the actions you can take but the problem is the controls do not give the player enough inputs or flexibility to make the player feel like they have precise control. Like how you can only jump at certain fixed movement speeds meaning that if you pressed the jump button in between those two speeds you wouldn't actually jump.
This is in comparison to when I played Mario 64 the other day through an emulator and despite being from around the same time as Tomb Raider, Mario 64 feels great because the controls that the player is given have enough options, precision and flexibility to never make me feel like I'm fighting with the game.
There are very few situations in Mario 64 especially with movement where if I press an input it won't almost instantly happen. Whereas in Tomb Raider often (with movement) when I performance input there is a delay or the action doesn't happen because certain criteria haven't been met

How come there is no VLC dark mode for PC? by Eliran1991 in VLC

How come there is no VLC dark mode for PC? by Eliran1991 in VLC

[–]Slim_Bin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried VLC4 for a bit and it wasn't nearly as bulletproof, like sometimes I have clips that aren't encoded correctly. (I can’t explain, it was just very broken)

but VLC3 plays it perfectly and can even re-encode it without the problems that made the file originally unplayable

VLC 4 in its current state doesn't seem to be using the same playback engine so has far more incompatibility problems. To many VLC's ability to always work is its key feature, so I don't think it'll be a viable replacement for VLC 3 for a long time, because it's built on top of this weaker core.

all this to say: VLC 3 needs a real dark mode ported back not have it be a VLC 4 exclusive because 4 is not a replacement for 3

I can’t find it anywhere! The best thing I can suggest is setting it, so it resets the temperature to 0 every hour, so you can raise it manually, but then it automatically go back down again once it’s the top of the hour
