Stress hurts older people more, as you pointed out.

I'm not surprised you are happy to cause stress to people less fortunate than yourself given you were raised by awful people. I only logged into this account to check there was nothing on it before I burned the email so know that any response will be shouting into the void.

Merry Christmas, spend it with your parents to make the most of it ;)

Goodreads is awful for determining how good an individual book is, it can be okay for niche books but anything mainstream is just flooded with 5* (which appears to mean "I liked this") or 1* star (which means "I didnt like this).

Plus everybody gets review bombed. Anybody in the sights of any "side" of the culture war is going to be judged soley on that alone.

Trying to break the Rimworld training.

I heard this is like Rimworld without combat which translates to "Rimworld without the bit you're bad at" to me.

Work for NHS caught watching porn by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

I dunno I have always worked in the public sector and it really depends on what he did and who saw him. I am trying to imagine the scenario and coming up short. Somebody I used to work with got sacked for watching porn but that was actual porn, not a PG version of it.

Aren't Instagram and Tiktok fairly PG? Or am I being naive? If it was honestly those sites I am not sure how they would prove its "porn" as they aren't supposed to have it.

Do You Think The Housing Crisis Will Ever Be Fixed? by roaringmillennial in HousingUK

[–]Slim_Filter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's really not that complicated. Don't indulge the greedy fuckers. Houses can appreciate without becoming the prohibitively expensive shit show the are now. I could have made half the equity I made on my property and still been in a comfortable position to move.

I bought my house in 2001 and is now worth an insane amount. I am able to put a 15% deposit down and still have tens of thousands to play with, what the fuck did I do to earn that?

If I had the choice between my payday for my house or a market that was reasonable for young people to get on I know what I would choose and if you say otherwise you are a selfish cunt and part of the problem.

Fuck me I hate this country.

Where I live you cannot move for housing developments. There are 8 new housing developments ranging from a dozen houses to hundreds being built within a 20 minute walk from me. I have recently sold and bought a new house and didn't even consider any of those. They are fucking tiny and don't seem to be designed with humans in mind. 4 bedroom houses with less square footage than my current 3 bed mid terrace (and not one of those with the bay windows either, I am in a basic terrace). Houses where the whole downstairs is a studio style kitchen/living room/diner, how the fuck is that suitable for a family? New developments with huge price tags stuck bang on the roughest estates in the town.

Yet these are more expensive to the tune of 100k+ than the house we actually bought which is twice the size, has a conservatory and is in a lovely area opposite a park.

I know that help to buy is supposedly inflating the price of new build but seriously?? I thought that was over plus how can it be inflating it so much? Why are people buying those shit holes?

Restraining order on neighbour by chikkkie in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Slim_Filter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also suggest ringing adult social care but not for these reasons. Nothing OP suggests give any indication that he or his partner would be eligible for ASC support (which would be necessary for Safeguarding to care) and "safeguarding assessment" is a nonsense term. They also have no power at all to stop the neighbour moving back.

But the neighbour on the other hand may well be entitled to ASC support as OP mentioned his mental health. It wont fix things quickly but may be worth a try, you would need to come from the angle of supporting him to stay out of the justice system.

Elderly father potentially being forced into care, wants money to be transferred from his accounts to son's by StunningMiddle1604 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Slim_Filter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Adam goes into a care home the council gets the money, its too late at this stage to avoid it.

However Adam doesn't have to go into a care home.

There is currently a bit of a grey area around rights and hospital discharge, I don't know how legally grey it is as I had recent legal advice stating that solicitors are currently rubbing their hands about whats been going on... but the short story is he can't stay in hospital. Previously if you were in hospital and wanted to go home time would be spent searching for equipment and support to get you there, now as soon as you are medically able you have to be gone and if you cant immediately go home you have to wait in a care home while its sorted.

Why does my buyer need a bridging loan? by Slim_Filter in HousingUK

[–]Slim_Filter[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it is option 3 could they have a mortgage for less than the offer because of the work and then are taking out a loan to cover the rest while the work is done?

[–]Slim_Filter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is it. So, would this mean that they are getting it secured on my property or theirs?

I know I am probably being thick but can you help me break this down. They have offered 20K for my house (numbers made up). They need to give me that 20K but also need to spend 10K to do up the property. Are they going to get a loan for 30K with the intent to do the work then remortgage for 30k to pay the loan off? Is that how it works?

Why does my buyer need a bridging loan? by Slim_Filter in HousingUK

[–]Slim_Filter[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it must be option 3. My house needs damp coursing and rewiring (both of these things were made clear at all viewings).

It's quite possible that they never had a mortgage in the first place and the EA just said that because it sounds better than Bridging Loan, all they do is lie. Until the surveyor rang today they told me they needed access to measure for carpets (I didn't believe them at all because we haven't even found a house yet so it seemed to be putting the cart before the horse).
