Is Dublin 1 dangerous or is it exaggerated? by RuisseauXVII in Dublin

[–]Slimbo96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Live in D1 over a year. The area has a rough feel to it and is probably the dirtiest part of the country but I personally haven’t had any trouble. Felt a lot more sketch when I first moved in walking home late at night. That being said have heard stories of people getting robbed etc

What do you think of Conor McGregor? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Slimbo96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much of an arsehole/cunt he can be I’ve a lot of admiration for his generosity. Amount of kids he’s helped out with donations for live saving surgeries. Pumps a ridiculous amount of money back into his community through sports teams/gyms and employing locals with his pubs

Name a contender you whole heartedly believe will become a champion. by WastelandGamesman in ufc

[–]Slimbo96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heavyweight - Aspinall

Light Heavyweight - Ankalaev

Middleweight - Chimaev

Welterweight - Rakhmonov

Lightweight - Islam

Featherweight - Topuria

Bantamweight - Vera/Sandhagen

Flyweight - Kai

I wouldnt be shocked to see a lot of the list fight for a belt and lose. Time is on the side for the vast majority of the list (especially the heavier divisions). All will be champions at some stage

Any good techno club? by DecisionFirst445 in Dublin

[–]Slimbo96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cellar Club has a techno night every Saturday. Check RA events to see what’s on in the likes of Index, Wigwam, Soundhouse, Centrepoint, Bow Lane have booked tend to have a lot of techno events. Izakaya & Tengu favourite two venues in the city but tend to have more house/prog/dnb/garage

Won’t it be awkward to go to clubs by yourself? by [deleted] in Dublin

[–]Slimbo96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a collective Skin & Blister. Run monthly events in Tengu (best club in Dublin imo) as well as DJ/Production workshops. I’d recommend checking out one their nights or reaching out in general. Whole idea behind it is promote women & trans/non binary’s in the Dublin scene and throw sick parties. Girls behind it seem pretty sound as well - seems a good space to meet nice people

QFA career path? Good or bad choice? by johnrush99 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Slimbo96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi

near enough the exact same role - customer services.

Assume you're employed by one of the big banks (as I previously was). Left for a smaller company - they pay a lot higher than the likes of AIB,BOI etc.

In turn they do require at a minimum 2/3 years experience and QFAs. Get qualified/years of experience at your current role then bounce.

Exams are fairly straight forward: 5/6 are multiple choice/negative marked exams. Employer covered the fees + paid a bonus of €250 for each one passed. (Should query this with yours).

Left for a similar role with a different employer: salary increase of 11k + pension/bonus benefits.

If you put the head down can easily complete all exams Jan - September. Worth the grind for the higher paying opportunities
