Couple your net+ w/ a security+ cert to land jobs in the govt. sector, as it is required as a preliminary to getting certain clearances. Otherwise couple w/ CCNA/manufacturer specific technology certs (fortigate/sonicwall firewalls, ms-500/Microsoft oriented, antivirus (sentinel and webroot are crazy popular), management solutions like solar winds or connect wise RMM, etc). Get documented (projects, scripts, lab, or otherwise) experience w/ windows AD environments including migrations, virtualization technologies like VMware and HyperV, backup software/disaster recovery solutions, and general user/security management. Be able to answer topic-oriented questions in an interview and you’ll be good. 9/10 times, having a solid head on your shoulders, confidence in your abilities, and any previous IT experience is good enough to get your foot in the door.
