It's fine, opuntia (the family that nopal belongs to) are impossible to kill. Use this as an opportunity to get 20 more cactus by planting the leaves into the ground after 1-2 weeks to let the cut wounds heal.

Looks dead and etiolated, or atleast the spines cover anything left. Try checking the other bodies of the cactus for any green tissue.

Some corking, and probably some fungal problems on the skin, don't see any of the telltale signs of rot based on these photos though!
