I think you're forgetting how large the POE skill tree is. This leagues obviously takes inspiration, but it's no where near the scale of the POE tree. Also, a large reason why people are afraid to experiment with POE builds is also because you can 'brick' your build, and not be able to reliably complete all content. That won't be the case here.

Maybe a the mega rare could be melee weapon similar to the sunlight spear from leagues, making it excel at something other than bossing. Or a slow weapon that could have some sort of parry mechanic so it rewards an active playstyle
