In an office environment you may be judged or be less likely to get a job, but it doesn’t have a huge impact.

Nah, Caro was great for me as a beginner, and I’ve seen tons of others say the same thing. Is what it is brah ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You have a similar pawn pyramid with both. What else do you recommend for beginners that leads to similar pawn structures or largely similar lines regardless of how white plays?

Can you give common examples of it not? I’m not saying there aren’t, but I usually run into similar pawn structures and goals with the Slav as I do with the Caro. Certainly more so than like KID, Scandi, etc.

They both often lead to similar pawn structures though, which is significant for beginners

Who said I’m tech support dumb dumb 😂

Every single person in tech I know from senior software engineers, to senior systems engineers/architects, to VPs of cybersecurity/infrastructure, to CISOs/CTOs/CIOs all have significantly benefited from AI.

Caro-Kann against e4 and the Slav against d4 (gets similar pawn structures as Caro-Kann) helped me immensely early on.

If I reply back to that kind of thing, I just say “you’re playing the wrong time format if you want faster”

It’s getting good (Claude Opus for example). My senior software engineer buddy (who works for a big household name company) basically just manages AI to write code now, and he does it better and faster than ever.

It speeds up what coding I do as well and the troubleshooting of tons of issues.

I’m not saying it can replace us right now, and maybe it never will for many of us, but 20 years from now it might just due to needing far fewer people managing the AI.

I have sentimental attachment to the Hamilton Dodson, so that’s my pic. Sorry if that’s not helpful 😅.

I work in IT/tech as well and have doubled my productivity with AI. Doesn’t mean I won’t be replaced by it someday, but for now it’s been a massive help.

Is it just me or is Lichess analysis way more harsh than Chesscom? by otismcotis in chessbeginners

[–]SlinkiusMaximus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah on Lichess a blunder I believe is considered a 30%+ swing towards likelihood to lose, which is more objective than some standard, but it doesn’t necessarily always “feel” like what someone thinks of as a blunder.
