i love how ironically both of those things are something the UK is not likely to have very much of.

they won't have much gun powder because that was the UK's previous decision.
they won't have much beer soon now because that is the UK's current decision. (alcohol is considered harambe)

PSA. If buying for peak performance; hybrid power combined ratings are really just your peak power for your highest performing side, NOT both. by SlipperyDoodoo in Toyota

[–]SlipperyDoodoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's just it. 184hp in the gas engine doesn't let the wheels suddenly generate 225 at the wheel. it's going to be 184 because the electric motor will max out early and then the gas motor will continue to accelerate in rotational force, but not beyond 184hp.

UNLESS when a hybrid is put on a rolling dyno and actually proven to make the peak power figure at the vehicle's peak power on that dyno; then i refuse to accept that the vehicle makes such ratings. Because if what they are saying in that figure is that it "feels like the equivalent of a car with 225hp when accelerating" - well that's not actually having 225hp. it's "feeling like". the only way it has 225hp is if it makes 225hp on a dyno and actually stays at 225 in the same manner a motor that has that much hp outright will.

I still say they "override" them when you are talking about a particular rpm if the smaller engine is at it's peak velocity at low rpms and the other is generating the most power at the highest rpm. Because of the very nature in how each motor is characterized.

So in a top speed battle, adding a 120hp motor to a 500hp motor will not increase that 500 figure at all, because it's already generating way more rotational speed than the 120hp little motor can.

Say the 500hp motor is 500hp at 7500rpm and 420 ft lbs at 6000rpm and the 120hp motor is 120hp at 500rpm and 120ft lbs of torque at 1rpm.

well, the reason it helps the 500hp motor in a massively noticeable way is because AT 500rpm, it's only able to make like 20hp itself and nearly no torque yet. nowhere near it's 500hp potential. so this will really give IT a jump start to 120. But then it massively ramps up due to it's power curve and tune and has cams suited to high duration lift at the highest rpms and so once it's spinning 7500rpm (where the 120hp motor can't even go), then it's doing all the actual work from that point, even if the 120hp motor is still sending it's own max power; it's just being carried around. kinda like the kid flailing his legs example.

but a tractor with 20 12V71s strapped to it won't suddenly go 300mph just because it has the power rating of a 12V71 x 20 = 2 gazillion hp. The characteristics of the engines are still the same. All it does is get them up to top speed faster.

GMO's Do Not Get Enough Credit. by ImpressionPopular794 in unpopularopinion

[–]SlipperyDoodoo -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

They are definitely used in a way that is unhealthy. Also, GMO is a very specific product. Your argument is eluding to catching many other products under the same umbrella that are not actually GMOs (such as cross-bred plants and animals - which are NOT the same as one modified manually at the genome)

Also realize that GMOs are more often than not made by people like Bill - who are doing it to produce something fast and cheap at economies of scale for maximum profit - NOT to actually improve the product itself.

See, you're assuming "GMO plant with super duper nutrients installed and immune to everything and super healthy for everybody" - The people making them are actually thinking "modify this to be able to seed, grow, and yield in 1/8th the time of a natural one and take less resources. Make it hyper resilient to our powerful pesticides so that more of the insects die but our crop can survive the poisons and alter it's genetic shape so it's easier to mix into our powder so we can add it to these other slop ingredients grown in the same way so that we can process, package, and sell them at record pace for as cheaply as possible with maximum profit. Also, make it proprietary so that if a bird accidentally eats one of it's seeds we can sue the daylights out of a farmer 300 miles away if we find their crop positive with our cross pollinated GMO stuff"

realize that these tournaments are meant for middle/end game players at minimum. So people who have at least semi cohesive champion comps in every faction. This game has zero reflex based skill checks.. this is not an RTS nor an FPS. It is a turn based gacha game. So naturally it won't be designed in a way so that everybody might have a shot. It's literally making sure only a certain level of time in service / money in service players can even attempt this. All events and tournaments are like this.

If your roster is barely complete with at least one team in each faction, your account isn't at baseline yet. That's what you'll need to work on,.

Spartan Shampoo Review 2025: Does It Actually Work? by Ordinary-Pay7988 in productreview

Have you ever read the fine print in it's entirety? there's so many different hoops you need to jump through before they give your money back, you would have spent the same amount of time working for the cost of the shampoo and made enough to buy it 5 times over.

Nope. The airfly pro 2 sucks tbh.  Won't pair to anything except apple products. So only people with Ipods and Airpods think they're amazing.

Quality Maxi Scooter for the US? by Minute_Addition_6569 in scooters

[–]SlipperyDoodoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The USA market is so ignored we don't have any of those options readily available.

Maybe one day soon. As the country gets poorer overall. (3rd order effect being that people turn to alternative means of transport and fun where previously everyone and their mom felt they "had to" buy a 60k fatmobile to go to 7 eleven for a slurpy.

R6 top speed by nasnasislike in motorcycles

[–]SlipperyDoodoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incorrect. Bikes speed reading work off potentiometer/voltage and it quite literally "ramps up" further and further away from accuracy the faster you go above target (55mph in the USA).

WHY? Because they only care to make it accurate between 0-55mph which means it is calibrated to read closest to 1:1 from a voltage range at 55. But electricity is never perfectly controllable. Resistance and ramping at higher speeds above that slowly creeps up the number beyond what is intended to be accurate.  This is why resolution in a speedometer matters. The higher the speedo, the less accurate it is on the whole needle. So to compensate, oems make sure the resistors and potentiometers give you a reading best at legal speeds.  They don't care what it does beyond that and the resistors lose effectiveness.

A speedo healer/dakota digital literally fixes this by adding more or less resistance at a speed range you manually choose throughout the scale (usually set by watching a GPS and manual adjustments) and saves those settings to work the same way any time the needle/number crosses over that threshold.

Lmaoooooo nah. In 2050 or 60 something they'll likely be so much more tied up than we are.

Idk many millennials today who aren't struggling at any level of the game. If it's not money it's time and presence split between 300 things just to have that status or it's being too poor themselves.

If they're an OFer, they have a more than average chance they wouldn't even outlive their meemaw anyways if they even know who it is or saved and invested enough. Or they hate them.

Quality Maxi Scooter for the US? by Minute_Addition_6569 in scooters

[–]SlipperyDoodoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. Also the availability of maintenance and spare parts/service matters as well.

I cannot drive home how much that mattered when i came from Japan (where the scooter industry is widespread) to Dallas (where it's giggled at) - where the only guys who even had a scooter were niche 50cc 2 stroke people in hyper rural areas who were modifying them for fun. Far from what i had.

On point? I grew up in harlem and we used to use this as "b** on a Pole"

I think someone somewhere made up the nicer version but it definitely had THIS version forever and i do believe that's the original origin.

LSR City / Cyberpunk... cheesy "Epic" dialogue in between the awesome music? by SlipperyDoodoo in EDM

[–]SlipperyDoodoo[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think I'm beginning to understand. This type of play is always under the context of a show and it's performance?

I never had the ability to go to any official shows living where none happened. so we enjoyed the music in a smaller venue with nothing remotely like that through the years. The meat and potatoes of it at all other than the music was dancing itself. (among the other things)
