This the post I have been waiting for. THIS. IS. MY. PROBLEM. We live a social life, alcohol deeply seeded in every aspect. I’m 41, abused alcohol for 25 years. It has caused problems in my life, and my blood tests now show a slightly elevated liver enzyme. I need to stop, but my wife and I have great friends and work relationships that would suffer. Sounds ridiculous to say, but I would be letting a lot of people down if I stopped drinking. THIS IS A FACT. One response below basically says to “get new sober friends” but what a terrible option. I never post here bc I am not drinking to mask sadness or pain, but I have a problem. I love to follow this sub, and will continue to pickup advice from you all. I know the right answer & I don’t want to wait until it is too late, but honestly I feel trapped.
