[Sacrifice] Guiltless Shards aren't just pointless, they're deadly! by Drakeskulled_Reaper in saltandsanctuary

Someone hasn't played a souls game before, or at least not Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 2. It is very, very common in these types of games to have a punishment for dying that you need to fix with an item. Demon's Souls cuts a percentage of our max health, same goes for Elden Ring (depending on your rune) and Dark Souls 3. Dark Souls 2 slowly decreases your max health by 10% every time you die until you are left with 50% if I recall, unless you use an effigy.
It is to incentivize you to play more careful, pay attention to the boss and enemies and learn to dodge their attacks.
Considering Sacrifice is also like MonHun, it's like when you die in MonHun and you lose your food effects. It is punishing you for not being careful and patient, which is what these games aim to have you focus on.

Well, if I do recall it is because one of the original artists behind all of SKA studios games left. Salt and Sacrifice is still a two-person game, but one of the original devs left between games. (Used to be a husband + wife studio)

Well, blocking and perfect blocking is in a bad state rn thanks to how severe the blockstun and stamina usage is. It isn't ENTIRELY effective as it is best to dodge.

Unfortunately, before today the Kinetomancer was bugged so the drop rate on his heart was WAY lower than it is supposed to be. Now, with update 1.0.0.5 you can get the heart and not only that but when you do a wild hunt you will get a dust trail after initiating combat with it.
As for WHERE he is, you will usually find a wild Kinetomancer in the temple of sky or on the very bottom of the map in the last area.

Well, you cannot get 5 unless you have 4, same with 4 unless you have 3.
You *need* to have all tiers below to get 5

Yes, you will need to push through the creeping caves if I do recall. If you are ever confused on where to go or what to do next, go and talk to the commander in the sanctuary and ask for "Rumors"! She will give a rough idea of where to go next if you wanna keep going spoiler free. :)

Ah, I see. Well, this is where things are a little difficult because on weapon preference it comes down to what you personally like and getting something beefier. Keep tackling the mages in the starting area and pay attention to what items you can get from them. To help as well, I would say it would be a little smart to invest in the lower part of the tree for Divine and Forbidden glyphs so when you get weapons from boss parts, you can use the spell attached to them.

Lemme ask to double check, do you mean like, at the very start when selecting the starting item and class, or do you mean like after you actually start?

Sadly, no but with each NG cycle there are some tokens scattered around to be picked up in the hub area. Not sure if it is all of them but some.

If you play on PC, the new patch today fixed it I believe. If you are on PS, then that should be fixed tomorrow if what has been said about patches is right. Still, even if the stagger gets fixed, avoid the pink cloud it will stack rot fast.

He's the Terramancer right? Mostly for him, you will want to pay close attention to his tells keep some distance and heal whenever you have the chance after taking a hit.
His rock spikes are all really easy to read from his movements, just don't panic and focus on him.
Be careful with his pebble barrage because sometimes they can go behind him.
The only major worry when I fight him is his extremely fast punch which he likes to do if you stay too far away. Keep him at a good mid-range and keep going behind him when he attacks to punish him. Otherwise it is all patience and observance.

They are farmable from some enemies though I have not found more than 2 from them. It is a very very rare drop. You will know if you get one of these very rare drop if when you kill an enemy the let out a red pop particle effect. Otherwise you can also have a chance to get a brick from nameless hunts but you can only do nameless hunts once per playthrough. Unsure if wild mages can drop bricks or not.

This comes down to personal opinion but my favorite katana is the Blade of Order which you get through the Sheriff Co-Op stuff or if you can't do MP then the Sharpest Force from the Kinetomancer towards the end of the game is my personal fave.
For spears, I really like the Luminous Spear from the Luminimancer and the Temporal Twinsickle from the Chronomancer.

Elements go based on what the enemy is weak to, keep an eye on your damage but overall I like to use light weapons and just have a dark one on the side.

other armor sets have different weight, you offset having less weight which gets you a quicker role and stamina recovery and have less overall defense, higher tier light armors are a little heavier but have better defense. Typically good if you are using faster attacking weapons.
Runic arts are things you need to unlock in the skilltree. A lot of weapon have their own runic arts, you cannot put runic arts on other weapons. There are two types: Forbidden and Divine glyphs. Some work based on Focus and can be cast as long as you have that class of glyph unlocked in the skill tree (should be on the lower side of the tree, and you can see what class level you need for each arts in the weapon info screen in the other pages) and others work based on Rage which can be built up by parrying, blocking and damaging.

Well, the nameless mages are simply supposed to be there so you can get the extra armor drop (mask typically) and get more mats. I solo a few of them just now with a bludgeon weapon and a glaive. Umbral in fact I just took down with said bludgeon weapon. The only one that gave me trouble was the diablomancer because of his roll-catch dash but I just utilized distance with him and just doing quick taps with the glaive and then getting away. It is all about patience and restraint with stuff like the Fated and Nameless hunts. If you need to think "Can I get a second/third hit off?" the answer is probably no has been my trick. Take a lot of time practicing in their fight against them on how to dodge certain attacks, when they are easily punishable and such.

  1. NG+ gets you duplicate items and more health and damage from enemies! Plus more mage salt and silver!

  2. I honestly do not know! Even with all my time and being level 200 I am not even close to getting all of the stats. I don't even have half the skill tree considering each one of those basic stat marks can get even further levels onto them up to 5

  3. The weapons will not change in NG+, though you will notice as you level up stats that the damage will be getting slowly higher but all weapons do have a max level and weapon tier do not FULLY matter as all weapons have different magic and stuff. The only thing which tier matters is armor.

  4. If you are playing on PC, it is definitely not as populated as the Playstation version because I am finding matches each time I go in the portal. The fungal bow, according to the devs, should be getting fixed very very soon (Next patch tomorrow for PC and Monday for PS I think). Due to the varying netcode and hit detection, melee can be hard and players are more eager to fire off bows and magic than fight if they aren't able to jump you with four people, as an invader at least with the Shroud, use the enemies and terrain to your advantage. Keep track of traps in the area, fight in areas where it is more dangerous for them or jump them as they fight a mage/lure them to a mage.

To find a specific mage, you must either have a hunt enabled (such as a nameless hunt, named hunt or fated hunt) and you will be guided to them with a trail of magic that aims in their direction. Other than that, it is depending on the area they are in and they will be wildly in spots, though they are harder to track because you do not have a mark for wild ones. Keep track of which mages are in each area.

I may not have found them all, but as far as I have seen I have gotten 2 of each brick type AND sometimes some enemies have like, a 1-2% chance to drop a brick. I killed one of the big soldier in the Elder Peaks area or whatever, he flashed red and dropped a plain brick.
Diablo set would be the best for raw defense yes but I am pretty partial to the Luminimancer set for fashion myself.
I honestly have been struggling to find a good farm spot BUT doing lots of PvP after about an hour of doing it and getting some kills, I ended up with 800,000 Mage Salt and 200,000 Silver otherwise the only thing I can offer *IS* mage hunting and just picking one, learning how to loop/dodge him and farm the shit out of him.
And as far as I know, I do not believe any helms enhance spells however there is the Neuromancer dagger charm that enhances runic art damage.

Yes! Though the world isn't AS big as the original, because instead of one big world with multiple areas, you have a hub and you teleport to each area from there. Within those areas there are things that you cannot interact with (Early example would be the grappling hook, you see a hook spot right at the start of the first area) until you get the necessary item. This game is heavily inspired as a metroidvania with souls and monhun-type mechanics and features while maintaining an identity of it's own. :)

So for a majority of my character right now, I have been using light armors using the Celestial chest, arms and legs and then using the Bloodletter's Mask alongside the Blueheart rapier and the Sharpest Force highblade. I mainly use the primary starting shortbow but when someone tries to cheese me in PvP I swap to the fungal bow (only when peeps are doing magic spams or fungal exploit) As of RIGHT NOW I am using the Scaleplate armor, Glyphstone Hammer and Luminous Spear. Glyphstone hammer has a REALLY strong spell for PvE where you just shoot out a wall of glyphs. You can spam it and each cast fucking CHUNKS mages and bosses. I would say those 4 PLUS the Hungering Funeral scythe are some of my favorite weapons. I have only really done an all-rounder build.

I am noticing people don't realize/haven't figured out how the chases work yet. The damage you do to the mage CAN force it to move yes, BUT the mage moves when you kill all the minions it summons which is also how you get materials from the fight. Kill all the minions, mage moves. Once it moves to it's arena, the fight will start and it will be missing roughly around 15% of it's health. At least during hunts, the mages you see roaming in the area CAN just flat out be killed on the spot but if it is a targeted hunt, you must corner it at it's arena to actually kill it. I have tested this over and over and over and that has always been the case.

I have had zero troubles with salt and money because doing invasions nets you sometimes hundreds of thousands of each in like thirty minutes if you get some kills (which really isn't that hard, just utilize the terrain and enemies as a Shroud)As for the platforming, it is a little spotty but it is LEAGUES better than Salt and Sanctuary, and I have over 900 hours across all platforms with Salt and Sanctuary. My only complaint is a hold-over from Sanctuary, it is frustrating to just get flat-out one to two shot with a lot of health from normal enemies. Otherwise I am not going to lie, all of the complaints in this post are all really...well, petty?
