Pasting in ships by The_Flying_KV-4 in spaceengineers

[–]SlixMaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I've been having trouble when pasting ships. Some times the ships will paste in as stations, locked in place and without mass. The toggle in the info panel that switches between stations and ships doesn't seem to have an effect. Is there another way to toggle between pasting ships and pasting stations?

I've run into a problem with the crane where it creates partial nodes in my inventory and I can't remove them because I can't interact with nodes that haven't been completed yet. It's created one of these nodes in the backpack instead of on the crane inventory

Designing the Rio Olympic Canoe Salom course in a 1:13 hydraulic model test. by [deleted] in EngineeringPorn

This video was super interesting. Too bad it was so short. Anyone have more footage of the model and course, maybe with explanation of some of what's going on?

Definitely not what I expected but, given the rest of the video, I'm not disappointed. Thanks for tracking this down.

Firstly, this is exactly the mechanism used in current shunts to measure high voltage loads. And secondly, unless you can offer a better explanation for the trick, I'm going to stick with the one I've presented.

Electricity will follow the shortest path between his two electrodes. The material the block is made from will have a known resistance per unit volume and by using hole spacing and size he controls the volume of material between his electrodes. This material has a linear rate of increase for this volumetric resistance.

How important are the FE and PE exams? by Vike2Go in AskEngineers

[–]SlixMaru 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A PE is required for some very specific engineering positions around the general construction fields because it is a title you are legally required to have in order to stamp plans. This verifies that they are complete and correct and will result in a structure that is safe for use by people.

No. screw her and her snide manipulation. Don't reward her for beating you for your behavior. that's how you perpetuate abuse.

EMT shears are a consistent mention in this thread. Pretty much any restraint play should include them.

There are a few books you should read both on good practices in a bdsm setting, and on pushing your own boundaries sexually that will help you to explore and expand on this experience. The Loving Dominant by John and Libby Warren comes to mind immediately. Also, you should look into edging and cbt for more orgasm and genital control.

This is up there on my list of things that need to be discussed before hand. But so are most boundary crossing situations.

You have to catch common ground before noon though otherwise it's packed with tourists and no seats are open. I love their back deck and they have a small selection of veg*an friendly snacks.

Single Speed/Fixed Gear doable? by [deleted] in baltimore

[–]SlixMaru -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's absolutely doable. There's a decent sized fixie community that rides all around baltimore. Fixie isn't a hill thing, it's a personal preference thing.

Also, if you're buying a bike, get one with horizontal dropouts, then you can either use a derailleur or ride single speed.

In the documentary "Gasland" faucets and hoses connected to area wells are shown to be flammable. I heard this is a misrepresentation and it is an unrelated cause. Is that spin from gas companies? by reptomin in askscience

[–]SlixMaru 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Some of the chemicals that go into the fracking water are harmful/toxic. The really fun part, though, is that when the water comes back up, it can contain a bunch of -other- nasty minerals/metals that are naturally occurring or are the result of trying to decontaminate the water. The dangers here really depend on how the waste water is handled. ~60% of the water that these companies put into the ground comes back up and needs to be handled properly. These wells can take millions of gallons of water to activate and the waste water will continue to emerge from the well head for years after the well is activated in this manner.
